Today we visited the Nigiro Tea Cafe (which used to be O’ways Teacafe) and we were completely blown away by what we found. Over three hundred teas are available in this cute cafe spot - many of which are blends prepared for the Mount Nelson and other famous tea spots but can be found right here!

We tried the Jin Shuan Oolong, the Coco Vanilla Rose, and the Marula peach teas, all delicious and explained when served. Having not eaten before coming, I was hesitant about which food options we'd find but my worries were completely unfounded.

We chose two WOW combos, and yes they were very wow with BBQ Cha-Shao Bao, Green Tea Har Gau Potstickers, and other amazing tea-themed snacks many of which were vegan or vegetarian friendly. For dessert, we ended with Japanese cheesecake, light and fluffy and made with butterfly pea flower.

I can also say the service was impeccable and the owners were so kind, everyone checked on us regularly and we even managed to bring some mochi home for later (a big win for me!)

Next time I'll definitely be booking their full tea experience where the owner takes you through custom blends and their histories. This is a great spot and one of the best experiences I have had in Cape Town,...

Not what it used to be sadly. The staff seem to have taken over to the extent that one of their children, a four year old girl, roams freely and is extraordinarily boundary crossing. She came to our table and tried to snatch our belongings off the table and then stuck her finger in our cheesecake. I had to speak to her sternly to get her to stop. This was evidently of not much concern for the mother, or the waiter/manager who could very well see what was going on. When it came to paying there was a strange moment when the card machine "is not working" and yet we were not allowed to see the readout on the machine. When asked to try again, which request was clearly not appreciated, it was very clear that I was not allowed to see what he was entering into the device. I am quite sure that the tanaction was not reattempted. It was clearly a way to ensure that we paid in cash. And I had to ask for a receipt. The service had the same form as it used to, but with none of the panache. I get the feeling that the tea-shop has gone from being a marketing exercise to being an afterthought. i won't...

What an awesome experience for a place that neither serves any meat nor alcohol. You get positive vibes as soons as you enter, it feels like home away from home. I came here alone but did nit felt a wee bit wierd about it unlike some other places I've dined alone. This is a tea lovers paradise, the variety of teas that you can taste and buy here is mind boggling considering that CapeTown is primarily known for its coffee scene. The whole tea tasting experience is ceremonial and therapeutic. The food is vegetarian with egg as the only form of poultry on the menu. I tried the dim sum starter and it was fantastic. The japanese dew of pearl tea was also terrific. Had a lengthy chat with Lisa and Miengwe who took time to explain the place, its origin and tea in general. They take great care in maintaing the place and the family vibe in it. Thank you to both of them. Having travelled 23 Km to try this place out was worth the travel in this heat. I will definitely recommend to all tea lovers and/or vegetarians outh there. "I will be back" with a bigger...

A Hidden Gem for Tea Lovers and Vegans Alike Nigiro Teacafé is an absolute dream come true, especially if you're a tea lover like me. Tucked away in Cape Town, this serene spot offers a unique and calming experience that’s hard to find elsewhere. The tea selection is out of this world—expertly curated, beautifully presented, and full of depth and flavour. Whether you're into floral, herbal, or traditional blends, they have something magical waiting for you. As a vegan, I'm often left with limited options at cafes—but not here. Their vegan dishes are delicious, creative, and made with care. Each plate is thoughtfully prepared and packed with flavour. You can tell there's real passion behind the food and tea alike. The ambiance is peaceful and inspiring, perfect for solo visits, meetups, or quiet reflection. The staff are kind, knowledgeable, and truly add to the charm of the experience. I absolutely love this place. I’ll definitely be back again and again. Nigiro Teacafé has completely won my heart. Highly recommended!
