Hogshead Rock Cottage — Restaurant in Roodepoort

My husband has been to this establishment before a couple of times and so we decided to go there to watch the Bokke vs Aussie rugby game this past Saturday. We arrived early to get lekker seats. We decided to sit in the smoking/bar area. Unfortunately, our visit was rather unpleasant. Too many restaurant patrons were allowed in this establishment. The area got so packed with people, we had a random stranger sitting at our table, another table's guest chatting away with him with no regard for us, everyone standing because there weren't any seats left. It was so tightly packed that you weren't able to move freely and patrons invading our space. Herbert was a good waiter. The bar basket food was good but needed salt. We didn't ask for condiments because there was no space on our table and even the waiters struggled to move in the area. We left after half-time. Will...

Was there tonight. Having an enjoyable time when we were harassed by a fellow patron who started antagonising a member at out table. Asked him to leave us alone and he refused. Trying to diffuse the situation. the Bouncers got involved. I had maneuver the antagoniser away for his own safety yet the bouncers allowed him to approach out table again which escalated the situation. The bouncers then proceed to kick out the member of our table and when asked to explain said that the antagoniser was a "regular". Every single one of those bouncers knows that we have been going there since before they were employed. They took sides and showed favouritism. The one promised he will be their tomorrow morning when I go to see the owner. We will see. I'm sure the camera footage will show...

This place is awesome! the Vibe is well...Vibrant! food is great quality but a little pricey. The drinks and the people are awesome. Lets get into the drinks shall we....

I ordered a long island Ice Tea! and wow was that amazing! I was with four people and they couldn't stop ordering the cocktails they were so good.

In the summer this place is amazing and the climate control is great. Misting sprinklers outside and air cons. But in the winter its like sitting in a nice Irish cottage. Its very warm comfortable!

The only reason why I cant give this a full 5 stars is because of parking. Get there early before happy hour and you good to go.

My recommendation.... I would come here over and over and never get tired...
