Somerbosch Bistro — Restaurant in Stellenbosch Local Municipality

Twice we tried to book and they were full. So today we were lucky and super excited. Somerbosch offers excellent Merlot and their wines will always be part of our home collection, BUT. Their bistro was a disappointment. S The dervice was extremely slow, even though they were not fully booked. Both tables around us, also had to ask for their bills or waited very long for drinks or food, as waiters mostly concentrated on the larger tables.(larger tips?). Hubby ordered chicken which he said was very good. I ordered a gourmet burger, which had liver, as one can smell it. As soon as the meat arrived, the flies arrived too. We wanted to order dessert and coffee, but our waiter was just to busy elsewhere to attend to us. When we asked for the bill to leave, she apologized. Somerbosch, your service disappointed us. Dont think we will be back, as there are so many other wine farms who offer excellent service and quality food, at...

As an elective Capetonian of Scottish origin, the Cape cuisine has always been amazing...however the past year or so has seen a serious decline. Therefore it was such a joy to revisit Somerbosch Bistro and find that it was actually far better than we remembered (which was quite a feat!) The calamari salad starter was the best calamari (Yes better than Chapman's Peak Hotel & Quay 4!) The soy ginger dressing was plate-lickable!!! Cauliflower soup was sublime!!! Cabeljou & Duck and their veg were exemplary. I know this sounds like a paid review, but we just popped in to buy ( the best) strawberries and it was lunchtime (on a Monday so most restaurants are closed) so stayed for a quick? lunch. Oh and the rosé is....I've run out of compliments but it goes equally with duck and strawberries. Just Go there!! The welcome from the team will be warm, knowledgeable...

I recently hosted my residence leavers’ event at Somerbosch Bistro, and I couldn’t have chosen a better venue. Not only is it affordable, but my guests truly enjoyed themselves.

A big thank you to Merle Hendricks, the manager, who was an absolute sweetheart - she replied swiftly to every message and made the whole booking process seamless. On the day, our tables were beautifully set up in a semi-secluded area, which was more than we even asked for. She is so organised, and it made everything stress-free.

The food was delicious! I would highly recommend the salmon and omelette, as well as the traditional breakfasts. Everything was beautifully prepared and thoroughly enjoyed.
