Eikendal Vineyards flourish within the “Golden Triangle”, a renowned microclimate of wine growing, on the R44 road between Somerset West and Stellenbosch. The view is lovely though perhaps a bit close to the road. The parking is made safe by friendly and helpful security guards and a boomed gate.
We were a large party that werely kindly acommodated with a wine tasting and lunch in the resturant. The acoustics of the restuarant area somehow made the space extremely loud. Everyone kept raising their voices and it was difficult to converse with the people at my table.
The second thing that struck me about this dining area was the confused styling and decor. It seemed to be combining decorative elements that were completely uncohesive and from very different historic time periods and design styles. While the separate elements were mostly rather lovely, when all combined they were a less than sophisticated jumble. There were elaborate steel chandeliers which matched the antique golden frames, but were completely at odds with the tacky canvas prints of Marylyn Manroe and James Dean - which would work better in a road-side diner or grill house. Between these were a variety of plates on the wall, which felt like an expression of the warm farm house trend. They will need to choose one style and commit to it. I'm sure this is not noticed by most guests, but as a wine farm with some history they must create a consistent visual style and standard to support a level of sophistication. This communicates the attention to detail you would expect of their wine making.
The staff were however extremely warm, friendly and welcoming. They provided excellent service.
My coffee was great and I liked the bunny latte art. My beef salad was a slither away from being too dry and didn't quite live up to its spicy and saucy description. Though it was quite good none the less. The wine tasting was fair and the red wines were quite good.
There are some beautiful views and there is a down to earth warmth about the human connection that staff create. It is worth a visit but there are many Vineyards I would...

We spent the most beautiful afternoon at Eikendal Wine Farm, and it truly felt like stepping into a storybook.
The cheesecake and wine pairing was perfection — each sip and bite perfectly matched — and our little 3-year-old got to enjoy her own cookie tasting with a glass of pink Nesquik milk, which absolutely made her day.
But the real magic wasn’t in the tastings — it was by the dam, with the ducks. She fed them, chased them, and spent ages on the big playset swing before I finally convinced her to just sit with me for a while.
We settled together by the water’s edge — her on my lap, me sipping a glass of Eikendal’s Classique Red Wine — watching the ducks dive for food, their little bottoms bobbing in the air, wings flapping dramatically after their baths. Then two tiny ducklings — one yellow, one black — appeared with their mom, and when we stayed still long enough, they came right up to us as if to say hello.
A few friendly visitors joined us to listen to the “duck stories” I told — our little one laughed with them, then wrapped her arms tightly around my neck, reminding everyone that I was her mommy.
As the sun sank lower, painting the dam in shades of pink and gold, I realized this place had given us something far more precious than just a lovely outing — it gave us a moment of stillness, connection, and quiet joy.
Eikendal isn’t just beautiful — it’s peaceful, welcoming, and full of little moments you’ll remember long...

First time here, and wow! This is what I believe a great restaurant is all about.
We had little kiddies with us and they had a lovely play area with a jungle gym, swing, a tree to climb and a sand pit - we could sit close and they loved it. Kuda was our waiter super helpful, humble and efficient. We appreciated his service.
Great vibe outside with Mountain View’s with high trees and greenery. Fresh smells of wood and grass.
Now to talk about the food and wine - We had the Sauvignon blanc, it’s such a light melony flavoured wine, highly recommend if you want something tasty, fresh and easy.
We had the Wild West pizza (avo, bacon, feta) and it was more than what I expected! It was thin based with fresh ingredients and a good amount of cheese. I could see baby leaves of real Oregano, finally a slice with strings of cheese 😍
Lastly, the coffee so good and the cheesecake is so rich, creamy and just smooth. It was the talk of the reviews and they didn’t let us down. The cheesecake had fresh strawberries cubes, nuts and honey, - it was real treat!
This for me is a true, beautiful Italian winery - I mean they even have lemoncello (stop it!) - it’s our new fav place to show our touristy friends and family around. If you’re in the area, I would definitely stop by.
Well done to the owner and management training the staff and the...
