A trip to South Africa's Cape Winelands is not complete without a visit to Giovanni's at Eikendal. Since introducing my fiancé to Giovanni's at Eikendal two years ago, it has been our favourite restaurant in South Africa. So when we were deciding where to go for our two year anniversary, the answer was obvious: Giovanni's. And what a marvelous evening it turned out to be. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere, complemented by the soft, ambient lighting of the garden lights hanging from the trees. The outside seating area strikes a fine balance between rustic and elegance, making it an ideal setting for both romantic dinners and casual gatherings. As always, the food was excellent! Delicious flavours that fill up your senses and make you feel like you're transported to Italy, yet paired so well with the taste of home from our locally produced Eikendal wines. Not to forget the dessert! Their mouthwatering tiramisu will always be my personal favourite. The service was impeccable. Their staff were attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and throughout the evening they made us feel extra special. I would highly recommend Giovanni's at Eikendal to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.
A big thank you to Warren and the staff at Giovanni's at Eikendal for making our two year anniversary such a...
Read moreYou are greeted by a very friendly security guard at the gate where your driver's and license disk are scanned before you drive through the boom to get to the parking lot The lawns were well kept and the pretty ducks had gorgeous yellow and black ducklings. You can very easily spend lots of time watching the ducklings Paddle round the pool and forage for food along the bank while the parents come right up to you to examine your hands to make sure you don't have food for them. The waiter was friendly and professional. He did however completely forget about the wine that was ordered until we enquired halfway through supper The veil pasta tastes fresh but is rather bland. I definitely recommend adding lots of salt, pepper, garlic, chili, olive oil and parmesan cheese to it and giving it a good stir to give it some good flavour. The Mike's special seafood pasta tastes like seafood and you can taste the prawns. The pizzas have an excellent base that is thin and crispy. It would be nice if they had a bit more sauce on them, once again I recommend adding the chilling and garlic to them to add flavor. The tables are well spaced from each other outside and we were given a candle to chase away the mosquitoes. Very nice place to sit and watch the sunset and have something to drink while enjoying...
Read moreMidweek winefarm lunch at Giovanni's Eikendal It’s taken me far to long to visit this winefarm and restaurant that I’ve heard so much about and I’m so happy we finally made it happen.
It was a very damp, grey, chilly day in Cape Town and I assumed going for early lunch at 12:30 without a booking wouldn’t be a problem - (it’s only the beginning of November).
Well it seems like season 2022 has kicked in early! The winefarm is beautiful with lots to see and explore. We got to the restaurant and saw it was full on the inside. I was happy to see that but also upset because well I was hungry! It was to cold to sit outside.
Chatted to the staff who very kindly asked the wine tasting room section if we could sit there for lunch.
After seeing various meals walking past us, we knew we had to try a pizza. We ordered The Don which was beyond divine especially the chorizo. The Veal cordon Bleu was the show stopper in my opinion with emmental cheese for days!! The Veal Piccata with fresh cream and mushroom, thinly sliced veal, so soft and moorish. If we had space we would’ve ordered the tiramisu it looked life changing. Very polite, attentive and friendly staff.
We will definitely be...
