We Celebrated my cousins 30th Birthday yesterday and because we’ve all been here before we expected it to be the same as our previous times, however this was not the case. We reserved a table for 30 guests, but some of our guest were seated apart from the big table and we were all placed in the hot Sun. We asked if we could move and the Management had such a bad attitude about it. He explained that they reserved that table for us which we said we understood, however your costumer’s are very uncomfortable and we are burning in the Sun as the side they placed us at had no Sun protection as the other sections of the place. He then had such an attitude and told me to then address this with the owner which clearly means he could not manage a restaurant as he wasn’t trying to make any effort for his costumers that were placed in the Sun. We suggested moving tables closer at a different spot and they couldn’t even do that.
They then suggested that we all be scattered separately as that’s the best they could do… we then moved back as we all came together, booked for 30 people so why would we be scattered apart.
I asked to speak to the manager and he said he is the manager with the worst attitude I have ever seen. Not once has he came over to check if everything was okay and if we are sorted.
The two waiters we had was great, however we had to ask to get another waiter as the one that was given to us at the beginning would’ve never copped alone and he had other tables to see to as well. Again, poor management I think.
The cocktails were inconsistent as 2 ladies ordered the Sex On The Beach but when another lady ordered it was completely different. The colour, the taste and that one didn’t even have the fruit the other two had. We then questioned it and he took it back and he gave us a new one that wasn’t as sour but still didn’t look the same and still didn’t get the fruit the previous two got.
Because we were a large group we asked if the bills could be rang up separately and they didn’t want that as well. After again suggesting things to make it easier by the end of the night, the waiter finally said he would do two separate bills.
The food was fantastic but I wouldn’t suggest going to celebrate a big party here as they need to work on doing big groups and management needs to work on managing the restaurant better with a better attitude and this comes from a...
Read moreI've always loved this place and never regret spending my money here, until a rather disappointing experience today. My family of two and I arrived and we agreed to sit at a small table outside, since it was the only table available at that moment. Shortly after, a bigger table became available and we asked if we could move there, the waiter who was serving us then said that it would be fine to move, but should a bigger family ask for a table outside, we would need to move, this was when I became confused...either way, we moved to the bigger table and a few seconds later, a different waiter comes to tell us that the table we are sitting at is only for 6 people or more, I then asked him if the table has been reserved for a specific time and he said no. Then I asked him why there are 2 people at every other big table around us (at one table there was even 1 person) but we are being told that sitting at a big table is only for 6 people or more? The waiter then responded and said that those people were also informed that they would have to move, so I decided to ask the 2 ladies sitting behind us if they were also told the same thing, and they said no, they were seated there as soon as they arrived (they also saw and heard this situation taking place.) I then felt like we weren't treated fairly and ask the waiter to please make sense of this whole explanation and all of a sudden he said, "it's fine Ma'am, you can stay here," but I still wanted an explanation to which he could not give me. My husband said we should rather leave as we clearly weren't welcome. The waiters knew exactly what they were doing and did not even bother apologizing. I'm not sure what their intentions were, but from a customer's perspective, it was uncalled for and I could have called a manager to help me understand, but I decided to rather drop it as I didn't want to spoil anyone's time. Again, I love Thirsty Scarecrow and always have a good time here, but today the service I received was very disappointing and left a sour taste...
Read moreWe had a horrible experience today. First our drinks was warm, no to little ice. Then our food was overcooked. We did the responsible thing and took an Uber but our phones died and the owner did not want us to charge our phones to get an Uber or wanted to help us to find someone to take us home to Somerset West. She was very rude and when one of the staff members wanted to help us, she yelled at them.
We always used to take out of towners there and its the first place we say to people to visit. But we will never go back.
Regarding the owners reply: Thank you for your reply. Understanding how the food business works, we did not want to make a scene about the warm drinks and rock hard chicken strips because we have promoted your business to lots of people. I then only brought it under the attention of the manager to just check up on those issues...for your own sake. Concerning the warm drinks, I let the waiter feel the bottom of my glass. It was warm and untasteful. He said that that is how you serve it which is a shame. Adding more crushed ice made it bland and tasteless. We thank the waiters for sticking out their necks to help us in struggling to make a call to Uber. Our phone' battery power cut off within minutes after our neighbours ordered us an Uber and forwarded us the particulars. At that stage we thought we were going to walk home. Luckely the Uber that our neighbours ordered reached us in time. I honestly would have humbly ignored the warm drinks and bad chicken breasts, but when you as an owner are not willing to help people in need and loyal patrons that have spent more than R450 at your establishment says a lot of your humanity. So we also plead with you not to take it out on your staff who tried to help us. A personal suggestion. Set up a point for charging phones at a fee with a disclaimer. I truely hope this will be a lesson in your...
