Maybe because it was a Monday night. We walked into a zipped tent entrance not sure if this was the entrance or not. We were left standing in the middle of the restaurant while 2 servers walked around us then realised we needed a table. “You can have this one or that one” we were told. When seated I spotted a candelabra on the ledge next to us. I thought if they were lit it could make for a cozy atmosphere as it was raining outside. I requested that and the server said they haven’t been used in a long time and walked away. Beer was great, not a big selection of wine so I ordered by the glass and it was fine. I ordered pork schnitzel with mashed potatoes requested they be extra hot. Mash came cold. The pork schnitzel was overcooked and definitely spent too long in the deep fryer. Chips were warm and “slap” and steak was okay.
The decor is very tired and could do with a freshen up.
The lighting to the car park doesn’t work and there were no exits signs to follow back to the main road. We landed up driving into an empty overflow car park full of weeds.
There was an absence of warmth and love and an air of neglect about the place. The owners may have been away at the time but if not they may need to invest a bit of energy back into this very well...
Read moreTerribly disappointing. Waited an hour for one snack plate after complaining about the wait time and once the snack plate arrived, there were no condiments on the table. My hubby had to ask the table next door to us to borrow theirs. The manager finally came to the table to tell us they were busy and that they mention the 45 minutes in the menu. Plausible excuse except that three tables had arrived after us and way after we had placed our starter food order. Two of the tables received their meals and one table had actually received their starter and main meal in the time that we were waiting. The third table received their meals just as our one snack plate finally arrived at the table. Are you telling me that it takes an hour to prepare one snack plate (chicken strips, crumbed mushrooms and chips) in the time it takes to make four main meals. Further to that it looked like a dogs breakfast...... just hastily put together. All we got was a disingenuous apology and made to feel that we were in the wrong because we didn't read your 45...
