I have been wondering whether to post this or not. I have decided to write this as an educational moment.
On Saturday my husband and I went to Wimpy. I ordered a Wimpy burger. After two bites, I noticed something grey on the lettuce. On closer inspection I noticed it was a slug. The slug was alive and crawling out from the burger. I was completely disgusted, and immediately stopped eating.
My husband then proceeded to contact the manager and waitress. They immediately took away the food and asked whether they could replace it for me. Obviously I was so nauseated by this, that I had completely lost my appetite.
What I appreciated was, was the fact that the manager did apologise and offered to replace my meal and she didn't charge for the burger.
However, I did feel like she didn't realise the severity of what could have happened or how it disgusting it really was and that clearly someone wasn't performing their tasks correctly in the kitchen.
She tried to explain that these things happen and that they do tend to stick to the lettuce, even after washing. I told her that they should keep the lettuce in salt water which will kill the slugs and according to her, they do that already, which I unfortunately don't believe as how is that slug still alive. I feel there is need to train the staff regarding ensuring the fresh foods are washed properly.
This was a very very bad experience and it has really put me off from wanting to go to Wimpy again.
I hope Wimpy Cape Gate is able to learn from this experience and correct this, as to not lose further customers...
Read morePrisca, out waitron, has shown what warmth and respect elderly can expect and be treated with. As it was mostly elderly people having breakfast she would make sure that she would listen to "special requirements" and tried her utmost to satisfy all she served. While still completing our order another elderly man, seated with his grand children, impatiently and at top of his voice said, "Continue your conversation, I want to see your manager, I do not want to order or served by you, get me your manager" as she turned to take their order. It was very impolite of him. You do not address another lady in that fashion. If you can do it so easily to another woman, how do you treat your wife, the Grand Mother of your grand children? She apologised to him, tried to bring his tone down. She did all she could to ensure him that she is sorry, can she take their order and to forgive her. Not very gentlemanly, that is teaching your grand children wrong values. She reported the incident to the manager in clear view of all seated, resolved and needed no further discussion. An atmosphere which left quite a sour taste in the mouth and mind. Politeness enhances dignity and claims respect. She kept smiling, but you could see the eyes hurting. Well done Prisca, your service was fantastic, your pose excellent. Manager, Wimpy, Cape Gate, you have a gem in her. Treasure her human...
Read moreNo sugar with our coffee. Our waitress was not even bothered to bri g the drinks or fkod herself. No cutlery with our meal. With that we were still patient. After getting our food, I found something between my vegetables that looked suspiciously likea hair. Giggling I showed it to the waitress and she called the manager. Without asking what I saw the manager ran her mouth, saying it's only a piece of the mushrooms and there should be no problem. Slightly agitated now, I informed her that I did not mind and was simply talking to the waitress (not our usual waitress either)... While we were finishing our food our usual waitress sat the bill on the table, asking "anything else". Seriously?! (we were not finished and already politely forced to leave) Horrible management, horrible staff!! You should be ashamed...
