Review amended/ added Review update: with the apparent SANTACO action and multitude roads being vandalised and disrupted, my wife and I could find our way through for a doctor's physical and physiotherapy in two different suburbs, trying to avoid some of the mainly affected areas. I want to commend our waitron at Cahokia Spur, even an hour after Breakfast was over, She arranged with management to organise us a meal each for my wife and I. She acted on her feet, made a rational decision and stuck to her promised word. Shaken by the ordeal we went through, I did not get her name. To the Manager/Owner, this is what I call service. True to her word she delivered. This is service Par Excellence. She took our Spur card number. This is what we as an elderly couple appreciate very much. Be blessed. Adele thank you for excellent service. You made this a memorable day for four old pensioners. Your timing and assertiveness keeping meals warm as some of us still had to go into different directions, unscheduled, but kept track of each of our wants. Your diligence and empathy is sincerely appreciated. Needless to say the pensioner special has become our specialty and taste, as well as portion, has not been compromised, a wonderful gesture from Spur to the elderly, much appreciated.

Went there on 1 August 2022 for lunch. The wait to be served was a bit long even though our section was not filled (no other customers until a few minutes after we sat). We were served by someone on training which wasn't a problem. After taking our order (drinks and food) we waited some time for our drinks to come. I specifically stated no onion rings with my chicken and buffalo wings and still received the onion rings, but I didn't send the plate back, I finished my plate exept the onion rings (might have been the trainee's first time). Perhaps I should have corrected her when she asked if everything is fine, but I didn't want to make a fuss about something that I didn't ask for, they can just throw it out. I enjoyed my cosmopolitan (didn't taste like a real cosmopolitan as it was very sweet). I must say, the meals came quicker than the drinks (straight after we got the drinks). They do have a smoking area as well as a play area. I'd advise the staff to rather double check the order (which they do but usually still get something wrong, in my experience as customer who does go to Spur often). Regardless of the above, I'd still recommend this branch if you'd like to eat some lekker food and drink. The staff is friendly but a teeny bit slow.

We orderd the Big Three Combo as a take away, at the Cape Gate Spur, for R149.90. The waitress, Charne was absolutely amazing, as I had many questions about the milk used in the milkshakes. She gave me a Bubblegum milkshake with Almond milk & hubby had a chocolate one. Best milkshakes we've had in a long time. I can unfortunately not say the same about the food. When we got home, it was obvious the portions are smaller now, then again, it was two combo deals we bought & we kept cost of living in mind. Marinade was brushed on and not "all the way through" the meat, as we're used to Spurs usual quality. Chips & onion rings were good though. A shame all three proteins were bland.

Visited on Saturday 7th Jan and on receiving our order I transferred the chips from the wire basket onto my plate and saw a used folded straw wrapper at the bottom of the wire basket. My quick assumption was they needed a chip wire basket and took the first one that was returned to the kitchen and loaded the chips and sent it out. My wife pointed this out to the waiter who said he will call a manager who came apologized and said my meal will be replaced and I responded that I will give them a review to which said he will bring the papers and I replied will do it via Google and he said he will fetch a operator to deal with my complaint and he came and I told my story and he returned and asked me not to post on Google till his chief operator talks with the owner who will contact me on Monday. Like normal a operator contacted me and said all employees got warnings for this and then I said it's not treated as a serious complaint to which he said a lawyer will do enquiries which I know you cannot discipline a employee twice. They took me through there very strict policy around the cleaning process and I asked how do explain what happened to me, there is no strict hygiene controll in the kitchen and customers in my view they are not serious about. The owner not contacting me speaks to the management not taking this complaint seriously and being disrespectful, I hate to think what happens during there peak times. I did not enjoy my meal, did not complete it. Surely the Spur group can at least clean the items they use for their customers food and their customers safety, or is this there way of cutting cost. Actually very shocked at how they dealt with my complaint therefore I am posting this as to give you a view that they are not serious about hygiene or their customers safety, you can decide after reading...

My partner and I had the misfortune of dining here last night, bear in mind that this was my first time eating at a spur restaurant in over 2 years.

We arrived at the restaurant at 20h45 and were greeted by a pleasant lady who showed us to our table, upon being seated, she advised that we have until 10pm to place our order.

Some time passed until our waiter arrived, he wasn't very hospitable in his approach and advised us that the kitchen closes at 9 and we felt a bit rushed to order, coming from a hospitality background myself, I felt that he could have handled the situation better. I especially didn't like the comment that he made, "well, you're inside now". It made us feel unwelcome and as if he was doing us a favor by serving us. I took extreme exception to this, because, in my experience, you treat your last table as you treated your first.

Our food came out quickly and was fairly good. I had the big bear combo and my partner had the apache combo. My steak was overcooked, as the waiter neglected to ask for a temperature on my meat. My partner noted that her wings were quite dry, but that is in no way the waiters fault.

Overall the dining experience was rather disappointing, as I had just gotten off a 12 hour shift and thought I would be spontaneous and spoil my partner a bit.

The entire evening however was not a let down, the big guy's section that was next to our waiter's, Lee-Roy's, section had a very warm and approachable presence. The minimal interaction that we had with him was truly the highlight of the evening. I want to commend him on being a customer service professional and appreciate his contribution to our dining experience, if we are ever to return, I would insist on being served by that gentleman.

Stay...

Good eveningon 19 Feb 2025 we had dinner at the spur. It was my husband's birthday. First birthday without my son that we lost last year april. He was 29. We specifically went to eat out as my husband and our son always had a braai but we did not want to do it this year.

We were 3 people and the amount spent was R895. I gave a R105 tip that i didn't want to give but my husband insisted on it.

The service of our waiter, Leroy was terrible. When he came. To our table the first time, he didn't introduce himself, nothing. Just gave us the menus and left. Every time we wanted to order something we had to look for him. We ask him about a dish with a salad instead of chips. We wanted to know if we can have a little bit of onions amd half salad. He just said no so we bought an extra plate of onions. We told him that it ia my husband's birthday and he decided they must come and sing while he was busy with his main course so by the time he could eat his icecream on the house, it was all melted.

I ask for lots of sirup with my waffle. No he did not bring any, so by the time he got me extra sirup my icecream was all melted.

Bottom line, we wanted to eat out and celebrate my husband's birthday without our son but it turns out that the evening was all ruined due to the fact of an waiter that...
