Jeju Gwanghae Aewol Main Branch — Restaurant in Jeju

Cannot recommend enough - loved both their braised and fried hairtail fish. They had an English menu, which was super helpful for the non-Korean speakers in the group. We opted for the second largest set (said to feed 3-4) which was more than enough to feed 5 people.

The set came with:

a big main braised hairtail dish: came with abalone, crawfish, and these amazing discs of radish that soaked up all the braiding liquids a fried hairtail dish: super crispy and savory a stir fried abalone dish: came with amazing sautéed onions two seafood soups: also deeply savory, full of chopped crab, shrimp, some enoki a soy marinated crab and shrimp dish: tasty, but our group ate the least of this since it was a raw dish

Heads up that the fish can be a little finicky for those who aren’t used to eating fish with bones, but you can easily flake off large chunks once you get the hang of it.

All of the dishes and side dishes made an amazing spread. There’s also a pretty good view of the water, so ask for a window seat if you see...

The wait is almost one hour. Having just landed on Jeju and drive past this coastal restaurant and have not familiarised with the places ..so we (5 of us adult) thought we just wait…so it turned out good, unexpectedly right decision to wait. We were ushered to a ocean view waiting room (you can surf, take a nap or simply enjoy the ocean view). When it’s our turn to dine. The waitress recommend us a set meal for 4, it turn out it’s serving is much more than 5 person. Not just quantity, the food is really thumbs up. Good size abalone fried with onions, green peppers. The grilled long silver fish is very tasty and fresh. and yes…the marinated crabs and prawns ..excellent. Hot pot, great servings and tasty. Overall, we enjoyed the meal. And the price? Less than 170000 won to...

Food was great, but think twice if you ever dine in before their closing time. We came in at 7pm, was told they are closing at 750. Fine, but they insisted us to order the set for 4 pax which is quite huge. So we waited and get our food at 725pm, at 750 the waiters keep coming to remind they are closing. At 8pm all of them were standing around our tables watching us trying to finish the food, in the end we had to take away some of the food in order for them to close the restaurant. The whole experience was unpleasant, the way of asking for payment was rude, my hands were dirty eating the crab and they asked for payment, still insisted me to move to the payment counter to make payment.
