I recently had the pleasure of dining at a truly unique restaurant that specializes in abalone porridge and cutlass fish, and I must say, it was an unforgettable culinary experience. Our tour guide brought us here and explained it was more authentic Jeju experience that some of the other tourist traps you may encounter. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

The abalone porridge was a delightful surprise. The rich, savory broth was perfectly balanced, and the tender abalone pieces added a luxurious touch to the dish. It was comforting and flavorful, making it the perfect choice for a chilly day.

The cutlass fish was another standout dish. Expertly prepared and beautifully presented, the fish was cooked to perfection, with a delicate, flaky texture and a subtle, yet distinct flavor. The accompanying side dishes complemented the main course wonderfully, adding a variety of tastes and textures to the meal. My only caution is if you aren't someone who is used to eating fish with bones that it might be difficult at first.

What truly set this restaurant apart was the attention to detail and the passion for quality ingredients. The staff was knowledgeable and eager to share their insights about the dishes, making the dining experience even more enjoyable.

In summary, if you're looking for a unique and memorable dining experience, this restaurant is a must-visit. The abalone porridge and cutlass fish are exceptional, and the overall experience is one that you won't soon forget. I can't wait to return and explore more of their...

Jong Ga Abalone Restaurant is a must-visit in Jeju for anyone craving top-quality seafood served with heartfelt hospitality. Every dish we tried was a winner—and judging by the wipe-clean plates, we weren’t the only ones who thought so!

The grilled abalone was perfectly tender and smoky, highlighting its natural briny sweetness. The grilled cutlassfish was another standout—delicate, flavorful, and expertly cooked.

The abalone porridge is an absolute must: warm, comforting, and rich with fresh abalone, it’s the kind of dish that leaves you feeling deeply satisfied. We also loved the free fried fish, which was surprisingly crispy and delicious—a generous and tasty touch.

On top of the amazing food, the friendly boss made the entire experience feel welcoming and genuine, adding a personal touch that made the meal even more enjoyable.

If you’re in Jeju, Jong Ga Abalone is not to be missed. Come hungry—you’ll want to wipe every...

This restaurant is recommended by a Jeju local for its fresh ingredients harvested locally. We were first greeted by the picturesque view of the sea next to the restaurant.

The restaurant serves an array of banchan - most uniquely of all was the seaweed kimchi (which was a novel experience given that we did not see it in Seoul). The banchan were well-seasoned and still retain their flavour. The butter abalone (the signature dish) was supple and delicious. The abalone porridge - a must try in Jeju - is a comfort to have regardless the weather.

The staff (who speaks Mandarin) and restaurant owner (who speaks English) take the initiative to explain what each dish was and how best to eat it.

Jong Ga Abalone Restaurant is a shining gastronomical harbour in Jeju-do. 💯
