I purchased some food from here and did not eat it. I threw it in the garbage. I went into the restaurant to pick up my food. The young man went into the back, and I heard the microwave door open and shut. But what piqued my curiosity was that it was 12noon (the restaurant's opening time), and there were NO customers. The restaurant was DIMM; I did not see any cooks.

한국인을 위한 평.

카리브해 지역의 음식을 경험하기 위한다면 좋은 선택이다. 카리브해 지역은 아프리카-프랑스-인도-케이준 등 노예-이민자 출신의 다양한 문화가 융합된 곳으로 유명하다. 그러니 메뉴에서 커리나 콜라드 그린 등 언뜻 보면 카리브지역과 관계 없는 것 같은 음식을 발견해도 그리 이상하게 여길 일은 아니다.

주말 늦은 점심으로 방문했고, 추천을 부탁드렸는데 소꼬리와 치킨 로띠를 답변으로 받았다. 이미 간단히 요기를 해결하고 온 터라 소꼬리는 너무 헤비할 것 같아 대신 저크치킨 주문.

저크치킨은 다른 곳에서 몇 번 먹어본 적 있었는데, 맵삭하게 구워내서 시큼한 소스와 같이 먹는 식이었다. 여기는 매우면서도 달달한 편이었고, 위에 후르츠칵테일이 올라가서 처음엔 의아했으나 먹다보니 의외로 어울린다. 닭이 굉장히 부드럽고, 전부 다릿살이었다. 밥이 같이 나왔는데 특이하게도 달달한 편이더라.

치킨 로티는 많이 순해진 버전의 치킨 마살라라고 생각하면 편할 듯하다. 커리에 감자, 당근이 같이 나오는데 좀 더 달달하고 맵지 않은 한국 카레와 비슷할 것 같다. 로티라고 해서 차파티 비슷한 게 나올 줄 알았는데 파라타 2장이 같이 나온다.

둘 다 그다지 거부감 없이 맛있게 먹었고, 양 또한 적지는 않았다. 저크치킨 15,900원, 치킨로티 16,900원으로 그다지 낮은 가격은 아니었으나 카리브지역의 식문화를 경험한다고 생각하면 그다지 아깝지 않다. 사실 우리나라에 카리브음식점이 몇 없다. 메뉴가 꽤 많던데 다른 음식들도 먹어보고 싶다.

아, 영수증에는 사뷔에르에아프리크Saveurs et Afrique라고 적혀있더라. 영수증을 보고 나서야 내가 찾고 있었던 곳이라는 걸 알았다.
