Food and atmosphere great. But what put it down to 1/5 was when i was paying the bill, the guy working there was facetiming someone while he had my card in hand. He was sharing my cards infomation with someone, showing the front and back of my card to them, even blantantly saying the name on my card and how to spell it to them. He was showing my card! To someone I dont know! Right in front of me, (i can literally see on his phone, im plain view my card and some lady on his phone screen) i immediately snapped at him. After that, it had turned my experience bad.
I will be getting a new card now because of this. This is not normal behavior to do.
Suspecious or abnormal activities like this gets stores like this to become off-limit areas to military personnel. I do not recommend this place just for that reason.
Edits to respond:
Thank you for your response, ma'am—it's clear how much passion and pride you put into Subic Bay Restobar, and I truly appreciate the invitation to come back and discuss this in person. Your long-standing reputation since 1999 speaks volumes about the honest business you've built, and I have no doubt that your team, including the devoted staff you describe, works incredibly hard to serve customers with integrity. As a fellow believer, I respect the faith that guides your establishment, and I certainly don't intend to judge anyone's character or imply malice—nor do I question Korea's strong rule of law or your commitment to it. This isn't about nationality, religion, or assuming the worst in a "third world" context (which I never suggested); it's simply about a specific moment I witnessed that crossed a line for me in terms of privacy and professionalism.
To clarify without accusation: I didn't jump to conclusions or "snap" without cause. During checkout, I directly observed the register attendant actively on a FaceTime call, holding my debit card up to the screen in full view—zooming in on the front and back so closely that, while I was standing across the register, I could plainly see both my card details and the other person (a woman) on the display. He even verbalized my full name, spelling it out for them, and kept the call going with the card in hand well after the transaction processed. It wasn't hidden or subtle; it was overt and happened right in front of me, which understandably alarmed me enough to speak up immediately. I wish I'd asked more questions in the moment to de-escalate, as you wisely suggest, but the visibility of it all left me feeling exposed and prompted my reaction.
Out of an abundance of caution—regardless of intent—I've already taken steps to secure my account by requesting a new card, as sharing any payment details (even unintentionally) isn't something I'm comfortable with in today's world of rising fraud risks. I assure you, my goal isn't to "destroy" your business or make unfounded claims; if anything, my initial review highlighted how fantastic the food and atmosphere were—I enjoyed the sisig and how spicy it was, but the privacy concern overshadowed it all, dropping the rating to 1/5. I'd hate for a similar oversight to affect future guests, especially in a military community where trust and security...
Read moreDelicious Filipino dishes. The "sizzling sisig" is a must to try. Friendly staff as well as great service. Fair prices with lots to choose from their menu. This establishment is also a great sports bar. The nice pool table, darts and karaoke is available for all. I highly recommend to come for dinner and stay for the friendly bar atmosphere. Say hello to "mama" when you visit. She might even give you a free "welcome shot". Mama loves Jameson Whiskey if you ever buy her a shot. Just a side note: This place is on the 3rd Floor so it might be a little difficult to spot for first timers. So just keep that in mind...
