성산갈치맛집 — Restaurant in Seogwipo-si

We visited this restaurant as part of a tour group, divided into smaller groups of 6, 3, and 2. Due to some miscommunication—I’m not sure exactly where the fault lay—we were forced to share a table and meal with the group of 6. This arrangement was uncomfortable and inconvenient for both our group and theirs.

Our tour guide tried to speak with the staff to arrange a separate meal for our group of 2, but the request was denied. Typically, Korean restaurant service is outstanding, but unfortunately, this experience was disappointing. When a miscommunication occurs, it should be the restaurant’s responsibility to resolve it—not the paying customer’s burden to bear.

The food itself was mediocre, particularly the seafood. I’m confident there are many other places in Jeju that offer better quality dishes with much better service.

Additionally, another unpleasant moment occurred when a staff member handed a dish of water kimchi to the group of 6, stating that “foreigners don’t eat this.” I personally do eat water kimchi, and it was quite rude that the staff made an assumption without even asking us first. It left a bad impression and further contributed to an overall negative experience.

I went there with my family and weren't welcomed. Because we don't speak Korean, we tried our best to communicate and to order the food from their menu, but they did not try to help us (their menu is a bit complicated so we tried to understand). We feel like because we couldn't communicate in Korean, they did not want to provide us their service. In the end, they were annoyed at us and when we couldn't order the food right (as they want us to), we decided to leave. They forced me to order menus that I didn’t want to eat. When I didn’t they kicked me out of the restaurant. They also have very bad attitude towards my family. Staffs ignored our requests. A very terrible experience overall and we ended up not eating anything and having to leave the restaurant. One of the staff even physically nudged my sister out of the restaurant at the end.
