Popular restaurant by a port serving mackerel sashimi, grilled mackerel and fish stew. The sashimi is extremely fresh and is delicious on its own or wrapped in seaweed, rice, white kimchi and spicy greens (which is the recommended way of eating it). The grilled mackerel is fatty and tasty, though the tenderness may depend on season. Yellowtail sashimi may also be in season in winter. The yellowtail I had tasted really clean and had a slight sweetness. I liked it best with a bit of soy sauce and wasabi as compared to being wrapped in fresh lettuce/ perilla together with other condiments. The fish stew, which is served at the end of the meal, is clear and spicy which cuts through some of the greasiness of the sashimi and grilled mackerel. However the second time I visited there was way too much bean powder added to the soup which made it very thick and have a grainy texture. Overall the food here is amazing on a good day but it could be more consistent.

This restaurant basically serves one main thing in two sizes - a mackerel sashimi platter. 55,000KRW for a smaller one that feeds 1-2, or a larger one for 77,000KRW that feeds 3-4. You can also get a grilled mackerel for 13,000KRW. The mackerel sashimi is served on a bamboo mat wrapped around a ice pack, keeping the fish cold for the whole course of the meal. At the end, they served up a pot of soup filled with vegetables and mackerel bones, I think, which gives it most of its flavour. It’s a delicious meal, although it may feel a little like too much of one thing, plus considering the location, price feels a little on the high side. If you drive, which I suppose you have to, given the location, there is free parking right outside. Also, they didn’t seem to speak english at all, but they had a chinese staff who speaks chinese, if you can.

Located on a quiet street beside the wharf, Miyoung Yinae Sikdang (미영이네 생선회) is a popular local spot with a focused menu, featuring mackerel fish done in several ways. We queued in the rain for about 40 minutes before getting a seat. . Interesting to note that the restaurant next to Miyoung Yinae Sikdang sells similar dishes at identical prices, yet it was virtually empty, prompting us to wonder if the quality was really so different. . Ambience at Miyoung Yinae Sikdang is cozy, homely, and noisy. The brightly lit place is packed with functional wooden furnishings, and loud chatter fills the air. Walking spaces are narrow and cramped, but I like that they have sheltered waiting areas. . Service at Miyoung Yinae Sikdang is brusque, methodical, and efficient. There's only a handful of items on the menu, just point to what you want. Dishes arrive in quick succession, barely able to fit within the table. Staff work and clean up quickly. . Food at Miyoung Yinae Sikdang is traditional Korean cuisine, focused on preparing fresh mackerel fish in several ways. While delicious, the overall experience didn't endear to me. Portions are designed for sharing. Prices are affordable, budget about KRW ₩25,000 / SGD $25 per person.

We didn't have any reservation and the place was busy. Had some issue with the machine to get the queue number and the staff was informed. Staff was kind helped us and told us to wait until a table is available. After 30 minutes or so, we were informed that we could dine inside. Good as outside was raining by then. We were in a party of 4 pax, so the staff recommended to get the medium set. Came with a plate of raw fish, a large pot of soup, braised fish, a small plate of glutinous rice, laver and side dishes. Staff guided us on how to make the wraps and then we're on our own. The raw fish was clean tasting and had a lovely oily mouthfeel. Different parts had slightly different texture, hence it was an interesting experience! After the meal, one could enjoy a small cup of coffee from the self service dispenser.

Mackerel sashimi, soup and stew! A local spot for mackerel along the fisherman's wharf. Seemed like a popular spot for locals as there was a queue 30 mins after it opened. There's not a wide variety menu as you only need to choose 2 things: 1) sashimi or grilled mackerel, then 2) portion size (small for 1-2 people, or medium for 3-4 people). The small sashimi set at 60,000 kor won was decent price for the amount and quality of food provided. We drove to the specific area to try the restaurant and it did not disappoint. Not many tourists attractions close by but short drive to Mt Songaksan hike/lookout.

Headed to this mackerel restaurant as it’s highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The mackerel sashimi was so fresh and delicious, with no fishy scent at all. The staff taught us different ways to enjoy it with the banchan and in a ‘ssam’ or wrap. The meal came with a pot of mackerel soup that was incredibly hearty and the perfect way to end off the meal. Enjoyed it thoroughly and will definitely be back next time I’m in Jeju.
