Udongdang — Restaurant in Sokcho-si

A sparkling clean Japanese style tonkatsu and udon shop tucked into a folksy neighborhood not far from Sokcho public beach. The tonkatsu was as tender and authentic as any I’ve had in Korea, perfectly fried and served with several simple side dishes. I loved the atmosphere and was delighted by the presentation but, unfortunately, underwhelmed by the taste of the main dish as well as of the sides. Everything simply seemed to be missing that “umami” or yum factor that draws me back for more. The sauce, in particular, was more gravy like, and missing the zest of a really tasty tonkatsu sauce. I think it was the most delicious of the “Udong noodle” I've ever eaten. I ate “Sweet Shrimp Bugake Udong noodle” and the light taste was really excellent.

There is basically a wait, and if you write down your name and contact information on the waiting list, you will be able to eat delicious food without waiting long because you will be contacted by phone when the order arrives.

Sweet shrimp udon was very delicious, please note that this is a cold udon dish.

Pork tonkatsu was deep fried to perfection, the pork was crispy yet very tender on the inside. It is not easy to find a tonkatsu this good. The deep fried crayfish is recommend as well.
