Famous Raw Fish Restaurant — Restaurant in Yeosu-si

I wanted to try Hwe (Korean style sashimi) and was recommended this place and omg it's SO good.

The price initially may seem quite steep, but you will be served a TON of food, so make sure your stomach is empty before coming here. My biggest regret was not coming here on an empty belly. You can ask the waiter for recommendation on what fish is in season and how much you should order.

Firstly, they served a huge number of sides. There were so many side dishes that the table was full and I initially thought this was the actual main dish!

Next came out the real main dish - a huge plate of hwe and omg it was so good. Unlike Japanese sashimi, Korean hwe is mostly white fish with more texture so it's not soft but has a nice bite to it. You can dip hwe in soy sauce, wasabi, or chilli sauce and eat it wrapped in leaves with garlic and chilli. DELICIOUS

My belly was about to explode after this, but next came a spicy fish stew cooked from the remaining bits of the fish and for me this was the highlight of the meal. The hot soup and spicy kick to the broth was a stark difference to the subtle flavour and cold dish of hwe.

At this point I was about to slip into food coma but then the waiter came out with EVEN MORE FOOD. This was the final dish which was fish tempura. The batter was light and crispy and the meat was fluffy.

I can't recommend this place enough. I honestly dream about this place to this day.

Note: there is no English on the menu but you can use Google translate on the menu (and there isn't much to translate... just serving size based on amount of people and the type of fish you want) or just trust the waiter to bring out whatever food they think is best :)

The cost was 200,000₩ for 4 people but...

진짜 빡치네요.. 여기 여수언니정혜영 유투브보고 믿고 좀 비싸도 가보자했는데... 이런말도안돼는 횟집은 처음오네요. 저 보령사는데 여기 스끼다시는 인당 3만원도 안하는 조개구이 리필집보다 못하네요. 아기랑 갔는데 거짓말안하고 먹을게 없어서 옥수수랑 고추썰어넣었다는 생선전만 먹였네요... 스끼다시 너무 열받아서 찍지도 않았어요. 그나마 감성돔 회는 괜찮아서 별 하나줍니다. 제가 싼 횟집이라면 충분히 쓰끼적은것 이해하고 회만먹으니 그러려니 하겠지만 두사람에 13만원이나되는 횟집이 ㅠㅜ소주시켰는데 잊어먹고 유일하게 아기가 전먹어서 부탁하니 매우니 어떻게 먹니하면서 결국 안줘서 다시부탁하고 음식에 날파리날리고..계산할때 두사람(2인은 소 라고 메뉴판에 써있음)왔는데 (아긴 24개월도 안됐음) 중짜리 안시켰냐고 개소리...그것말고도 많네요... 진짜 너무 화가나서 여수...

여수 바닷가 보면서 먹어도 이 맛이 안납니다 회 정말 좋네요 바닷가 아니라 설마 했는데.. 뜨헉.. 자리 돔 추천해 주셔서 먹었더니 캬 ~ 그래 이맛이야 정직하신 곳 맛습니다 자연산이구요 쯔키다시에 치중하기 보단 회 맛에 올인하신 곳입니다 물론 쯔키다시도 잘 나와요 화려하진 않지만 기번에 충실한 곳입니다 횟집엔 회 먹으러 가는거죠 가격도 바닷가 횟집처럼 사악하진 않습니다 젊으신 사장님이신데 상당히 부지런 하시네요.. 써빙도 하시고 이것저것 챙겨 주시고 계산도 하시고 ㅎㅎ 여수 내려가면 방문 필수입니다 평점 별 5개 못드린건 너무 죄송하지만 제 기준이 있기에 ^^ 양해 부탁 드리며 제게 별5개는 맛과 자리의 편안함 그리고 주변에 의해 깨지지 않는 좌석 분위기라서요 어쩔 수...
