Restaurant El Arenal — Restaurant in Alcalà de Xivert

I had mixed feelings about this restaurant. The food was alright, but it didn’t wow me—some dishes lacked flavor, and others were just okay. The service was spotty; our waiter was polite but seemed overwhelmed, and we waited too long for both drinks and food. The atmosphere wasn’t great either—the place felt a bit run-down, and the music was too loud for a relaxing meal. The prices were higher than I’d expect for this level of quality, which left a bad taste. The staff did try to fix a mix-up with our order, but it took a while, and the replacement wasn’t much better. It’s not a terrible place, but it’s not somewhere I’d go out of my way to visit again. A very nice beachfront restaurant that offers great service with good food. The staff are very welcome, attentive and helpful.

The food is also good - two of us had a Fideua- nicely cooked with loads of prawns but just too much to eat. One had lamb chops and veg which was good, and the last was an entrecôte with a roquefort sauce - super sauce but the steak was a little underdone and tough. A huge piece though!

We found a spot at this restaurant normally fully booked and we ate a seafood paella that was very very good even though short of spectacular. (normally you have to reserve paella the day before but someone had cancelled :). Very well cooked and presented, seafood tasted fresh.
