The Corner Flag — Restaurant in Algorfa

This is my first time writing a review on google and I am doing so because I'm completely disgusted and in disbelief of the service and treatment my family and I received at this establishment.

This is the second negative experience in the space of two weeks.

On this occasion we attended as a party of 8, we had booked the table for 9.15 and were told we need to order as soon as possible which we were fine with. We arrived at 9.05 and requested menu's, these were brought to the table 15 minutes later. We placed a drinks order when the menu arrived, when the drinks were served we asked to place a food order.

We were then told as it's now 9.25 the kitchen is closed and we can't order food. We explained the situation and we were allowed to place an order.

My wife and FIL are veggie and ordered the vegetarian lasagne, 15 mins after ordering we were told no vegetarian lasagne so my wife changed to the veggie burger and FIL to a pizza.

My MIl's meal was brought out, it was a steak. We ordered two steaks, one rare, one well done. We asked which one this was and the server didn't know, at the same time we were then told there are no pizzas for my FIL so he'd have to have something different.

We were very confused why the kitchen would send out meal 1 out of 8 when one of the orders wasn't even available. The food then arrived (minus my FIL meal) about 30 minutes later, so they intended to serve 1 meal 30 minutes prior to the other seven.

We waited 10 minutes and then my wife went to chase my FIL's meal, she was greeted outside the kitchen by the staff laughing about us and the chef standing in the kitchen and eating with his hands. The chef told my wife to 'go away' multiple times in an extremely rude and aggressive tone.

We then then spoke with the owner who apologised to us and agreed the service we received was not good and she would take the food off the bill.

After we finish our meal, we asked if we could have the kids ice cream included with the 4 kids meals we had ordered. We were greeted with an intoxicated member of staff who told us we should be grateful that the food was removed from the bill and it was rude to ask for the children's ice cream. Obviously my four year old was in tears about this. The intoxicated member of staff then became aggressive and told us to leave.

As a family we have been coming to the corner flag for over 5 years 12-14 times a year. Our last two visits have been since the new owners took over and both times have been very poor.

This last experience has left us shocked and disappointed in what has previously been a nice place to eat and drink. The final interaction with the intoxicated staff member and then the owner have left us in disbelief as to how we were treated.

Please seriously consider parting with any hard earned money at this establishment, there are much better choices available on La Finca and would urge anyone to go...

I've been in here several times with my family, as my parents have a Villa up the road in Algorfa. Food and drinks are great value and it's great for watching football too. Had a Scottish breakfast which was nice, but it came with baked beans, despite me specifically asking for mine without any. Luckily I was able to scrape the beans and juice off my plate without it ruining the rest of my food, as I didn't want them to go to the trouble of cooking me another breakfast. Will be back here for more drinks and to watch the football later...

A steady gem of La Finca year in year out. The service is great, the food is frech and cheap. It's pub food, not fine dining, but it's really cheap. The Mahou beer on draft is €2.50 per pint - fantastic. Live sports are shown - so F1 and football. Very friendly and attentive staff.
