Restaurante Cienfuegos — Restaurant in Alhaurín de la Torre

What a great place to have diner!! WoW. Inside it is slightly cooled with airconditioning, but when we are in Spain, we eat outside! The menu gives lots of choices. Fish, meat, to share...or not, etc. They have a good wine list also. We had a salmon tartare, a starter dish with tuna tataki, carpaccio (in a way we had never eaten it before), what a great combinations of flavours. So very good! We also ate the huevos rotos with little shrimp and jamon iberico and leek. We all find it a bit too salty. One of the kids had the Cienfuegos burger. Very good quality of the meat. 200grs big burger. Good sandwich. Served with 3 separate sauces and home made fries. We drank a rose wine. The one we had chosen wasnt in stock, so for the same price they offered another rose wine. This one was also very good. 100% tempranillo if i am correct. Staff was friendly. Good speed in serving. A bit of time between the meals. We shared all dishes. To finish this good night we had deserts. The cheesecake with strawberry icecream, the brownie with vanilla icecream in a chocolate 'jacket' and an apple pastry with ice cream. As you can read i am very excited about this place. I havent eaten so good in many years here at the Costa del Sol. The prices are reasonable though. Only pitfall is that when we go again they have to meat this standard we have experienced now!! Our first visit. Warmly greeted, beautiful decor, pleasant staff. A wide ranging menu including not only Spanish but a wide fish and meat menu as well as delights from other countries including Russia. The Russian Cake for dessert is a must try. Gorgeous artisan bread and oil. I had 2 glasses of house Ribeiro, which was dark and plummy. For starters, we shared ensalada rusa which was nice plus meats from Cadiz which were sublime, melt in the mouth. My husband ordered steak tartare, which was beautifully prepared at the table. He was very impressed with it! I had a steak medium cooked, which was tender and delicious. I asked for chips but also got veg and 2 boiled new potatoes which I didn't really need! For dessert, my husband had the Russian Cake as above and I had the brownie which came with a crem pat and ice cream; the brownie was dark, delicious and very rich. Siempre ha sido mi local de referencia en Alhaurín de la Torre, pero anoche ocurrieron unos hechos resumidos en dos circunstancias:

1. Los comensales de la mesa de al lado mía, 7/8 personas, no paran de deambular por la estancia, que es cerrada y con la calefacción muy alta, sin mascarilla. Manifiesto mi incomodidad a una empleada y me dice "si puedo les digo algo". Estos clientes se marchan del local sin nadie decirles nada.

2. Quedamos en la estancia una mesa que celebra un cumpleaños (7/8 personas), mi pareja y yo. De manera espontánea me levanto y toco en el clavinova el tema "cumpleaños feliz", ante la grata sorpresa del cumpleañero y sus invitados que me piden que toque otro tema y así hago...

Entonces entra el dueño en la estancia y de forma cortante me dice "no has pedido permiso para tocar", cierto, error, me disculpo y me voy para mi mesa ante la incredulidad del cumpleañero, sus acompañantes y mi marido. El dueño tras la sentencia abandona la estancia sin mediar palabra alguna.

Aún llevando él razón, creo que las cosas se pueden decir con elegancia y amabilidad y hacen el mismo efecto. Soy cliente habitual del restaurante y lo único que hice fue actuar con la intención de agradar a otro cliente.

Por la mera intención de establecer una conexión ante ambos "hechos molestos", parece ser que era mucho peor tocar "cumpleaños feliz" en el clavinova para agradar a un cliente que estar deambulando en plena pandemia por un local cerrado con la calefacción alta y sin mascarilla. Eso o que a los clientes no nos tratan de la misma manera.

Conclusión: no volveré a visitar este lugar habiendo muchos otros donde a cualquier otro cliente que actúa de forma espontánea como hice yo lo tratan de manera adecuada (he sido testigo de ello) y a aquel que no lleva mascarilla o actúa en contra de la normativa covid establecida para interiores le dicen que se comporte conforme...
