Jazz Bar L'Assaig — Restaurant in Alicante

We have tried a number of times over the years to eat at this restaurant by just turning up on the off chance that we could get a table. This is not recommended as they are very popular and so yesterday we booked and experienced why this place is so popular. First of all the staff, all are very amicable and hard working and really look after you from the moment you enter. Oscar was our main server and he was most helpful. Now the food, the portions are all generous and without exception excellent. The pulpo is the best that I have ever had and is to be recommended, definitely their signature dish. The rabo de tenera croquettes were absolutely superb. Everything we had was excellent and I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to all except of course vegans.

Muy bueno lo que comimos. El pulpo estaba muy bien hecho y bueno. Y la hamburguesa buena de sabor pero pasada de mas, y me explico. La chica me pregunta que quiero, le digo que quiero una hamburguesa, nonrecuerdo cual, y me pregunto varias cosas para acompañarla y la tipica pregunta de: "¿la quieres muy hecha, poco hecha o al punto?", le digo que al punto. Bien, pues cuando llego la hamburguesa estaba demasiado hecha, casi seca, y se lo dije a la chica: "perdona, te he dicho al punto y me la has sacado muy muy hecha"... y la respuesta fue: "si, esque como todo el mundo prefiere la hamburguesa muy hecha..." Pues entonces no preguntes como la quiero si luego me la vas a poner como le gusta a la demas gente. 3 estrellas por este motivo. REEDITO: Hemos vuelto a ir y creo que ya va a ser la ultima, mi mujer pidio cardero, se lo pusieron seco como una mojama, y con mucho aceite, pero mucho, tanto que pasó el resto de la tarde con malestar de tanto aceite. Pedimos 3 hambirguesas con wakame, que brillaba por su ausencia, aunque no estaban mal no estaban bien, un plato de pulpo que estaba rico, 2 croquetas de rabo de toro y un poco de ensaladilla para un niño que rstaba bien. Pero 3 hamburguesas, una rodaja dr pierna de cordero, 2 croquetas, una ensaladilla, unos calamares, 4 cervezas, dos tartas de queso y un agua grande 130€ !!!! Nos pareció una clavada considerable para...

Just a bar.... Not what I expected when walked 30min to get there. All Jazz pictures on the wall but did not hear any jazz when I was there. Maybe they hey have live music other time of the year but did not see a dancing spot or even a big place to have a band or something. For me it was not what I thought it would be. Must be better jazz...
