Location:In the suburbs of the city so a good 35 minute walk into the old town. E knew that so used public transport, especially the number 2. Also convenient for a lovely tapas restaurant which saved us from eating in the hotel.|Atmosphere: non. It's a business orientated hotel, certainly not for enjoying more than 4 nights in as you'd only use it for sleeping and breakfast. |Rooms: see photos attached for a better explanation of why this hotel should not be rated a 4 star. Also the first room we were allocated (late) smelt like an ashtray. No kettle or ironing board ( which I've had in many 3 star hotels) and the hairdryer would overheat and stop. The house keeping of the rooms was good and professional. Clean towels daily. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. Rusty bath and mouldy.|Value for money: definitely not. |We arrived of the early flight knowing that we couldn't book in until 3 but we asked anyway. We were told we could leave our luggage behind reception. No offer to use the facilities ie bar or pool .|When going to book in about 1/2 hour early (we'd been sat for 45 mins in the foyer out of the heat watching how attentive the staff were to the Real Madrid football team) to be told our room wasn't ready. We were OK with that as we were early. I then went back up at 3 to ask again. Still not ready. ! We were told that the staff had been so busy because of the team. No apologise and made to feel 2nd best.|Again no offer of the use of the bar etc.|We called Jet2holidays help line and with Lynseys help got moved from the ashtray next to a suite where it was obvious that someone was smoking on the balcony. |The only saving grace was the breakfast. |Oh getting charged differently for 2 rounds of the same drink on different days. One of them being €50 for 2 G&Ts !|It's unprofessional to give bar snacks to quests sitting next to you and non to us ! We felt that because we complained and weren't business people that we were 2nd best. |As for the pool, it's still broken. Gym equipment also broken. When we reported the broken rails we were told that they couldn't be fixed as the maintenance people don't work weekends. 2 hotel men came up, looked at them, scratched their heads but in the remaining days we're were there didn't fix it.|Only use this hotel for business, not pleasure. A smelly, basic room...
Read moreWhen you first walk in it seems a nice place, the rooms are spacious and have mostly what you need. But in reality the bathroom was just full of bugs the entire time. No matter how many we killed they just were all over the floor every day and night, even on the fifth floor. Lipstick marks from the previous guests were on the wall of our room the entire time. The bar is in reception and the tiny pool on the roof means if you want to sit by the pool for the afternoon you have to take the lift down to reception and two flights of stairs from the roof just to get a drink. You wait at the bar for at least 20 minutes each time and usually staff don’t even know how to make your drink. I ordered a sangria which I felt was a fairly common drink in Alicante and it took them 25 minutes and 3 different members of staff to read through a book and figure out how to make it. Except the one man who works on the bar and knew how to make it perfectly. It was a shame because by the end they had sorted it out but the beer taps had broken and my partner then couldn’t get his drink. There was no tea or coffee in the rooms and NO AIR CONDITIONING! Even after speaking to a member of staff to ask how to switch it on and following the instructions it turned on for 10 minutes of the whole 4 night trip and that was it we just had to roast in the 35 degree bedroom. This was our first holiday away together since having our daughter and I was really looking forward to staying somewhere peaceful away from the busiest part of Alicante but I would never stay again. A real disappointment after saving up to go away after such...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic place.
We were upgraded for a small fee upon arrival to a superior room. The room itself was super clean, modern and I was shocked the hotel itself is actually 15 years old (I thought it was new. We had a balcony over looking a busy round about, however the windows blocked all of the noise and curtains kept the room dark.
The hotel itself has a jacuzzi, sauna, rooftop swimming pool and gym. All were fantastic and we used daily. I would recommend however that the gym adds a few more pieces of equipment such as heavier dumb bells, kettle bells etc. But all in all, very usable, well maintained and clean.
Breakfast was great, meats, cheeses, fruits, breads and yoghurts and for 5 euro more you can have a feast delivered to your room in the morning! (See picture)
The staff were friendly and professional, despite the language barrier, they assisted and provided to the best degree. Particularly Ricardo, who works on reception, who was really helpful and we had a great conversation about our travels and experiences.
My only gripe is the location, it's a twenty minute walk to the town centre, but the area is nice, a few restaurants nearby (the Chinese opposite is great), with a super market also across the road too.
I've stayed in many places in Europe and by far this hotel exceeded expectations beyond all others!
All in all a great place, exemplary staff and amenities!
