We've long been regular, if rather infrequent visitors at this buzzy, friendly restaurant in Santa Faz.

While it's not possible to reserve a table we've never been turned away, even on the busiest of days; you just need to be lucky (or clever?) with your timing!

There's an unchanging menu with the most popular items, including their unique take on the ubiquitous Russian salad (recommended), their decadent bread which comes warm, oozing with creamy goodness (ditto!) and (if you've children in tow) the so-called Cubo Kid. It's a huge bucket of chips, with a couple of chicken wings and some meatballs flung in for good measure, will feed two smallish hungry people and costs a measly €7. It'll keep them happy while you enjoy the grown-up stuff. Aside from this there's a blackboard menu with daily specials.

Decent house wine (both red and white) is available by the generous glass and at the time of writing costs €3,20. Puds are recommended (be sure to save room) especially their lemon tart (which isn't a tart at all).

It's definitely worth the five stars overall, but I have a couple of niggles, because standards occasionally slip, especially when it's busy. Service is always either excellent (5 ⭐) or a can be little haphazard, depending on who you get - and we've been served virtually inedible steak and charged for or served items we...

Visitar este restaurante ha sido, sin duda, una de las experiencias gastronómicas más memorables que he tenido en mucho tiempo. Desde el momento en que crucé la puerta, la calidez del servicio marcó la diferencia: un equipo atento, cercano y profesional que sabe cómo hacer sentir al comensal como en casa, sin caer en excesos, pero con la justa medida de elegancia y hospitalidad.

Uno de los momentos más sorprendentes llegó con la ensaladilla rusa con mejillones. A primera vista, puede parecer un plato sencillo, pero la combinación de sabores y la frescura de los ingredientes lo transforman en una auténtica delicatessen. El punto salino y marino del mejillón potencia la cremosidad de la ensaladilla, creando una armonía que se queda grabada en el paladar.

Las croquetas de bacalao fueron otro de los grandes aciertos. Crujientes por fuera, con ese dorado perfecto que invita a probarlas, y suaves por dentro, llenas de un sabor profundo y auténtico. Son de esas croquetas que no solo se disfrutan, sino que además transmiten oficio y respeto por la materia prima.

Un detalle aparentemente humilde, pero que me fascinó, fue el pan con ajo y queso crema. La textura ligera del pan, con ese toque aromático del ajo y la suavidad del queso, convertía cada bocado en algo adictivo. Un ejemplo de cómo un acompañamiento puede elevarse a protagonista cuando se hace con cariño y precisión.

Y luego llegó el capítulo dulce, donde el restaurante se lució de manera extraordinaria. La tarta de queso con queso azul fue una revelación: cremosa, intensa, con ese toque ligeramente salino que sorprende y engancha al mismo tiempo. Y como si fuera poco, las torrijas fueron presentadas con una maestría difícil de superar: jugosas, aromáticas, con una textura que se deshacía en la boca, demostrando que un postre clásico puede llegar a la más alta sofisticación cuando se ejecuta con perfección.

La experiencia completa fue un viaje de sabores en el que cada plato aportó algo distinto, siempre acompañado por un servicio atento que supo explicar cada propuesta con detalle, sin restar protagonismo a la espontaneidad del disfrute.

En resumen, este restaurante combina lo mejor de una cocina pensada para emocionar con un trato humano excepcional. No es solo un lugar para comer bien, sino para vivir una experiencia gastronómica que deja huella. Un sitio al que, sin duda,...

Sweet sour experience: first we started with a 5 star dish, a tomato tartar with mustard ice cream, simply fantastic! Creative, tasty and well presented. Then we enjoyed an interesting tapa of onions in 5 textures, also creative and nice even though a bit too rich. Then e we had a bolognese of squid which was very disappointing and finally the calamari toast which again was too rich particularly because of the mayonnaise.

Service was very cordial and professional and the setting on the pedestrian street next to the church was...

🍻 Santa Bar 🍻 🌺 ¡Qué lujo disfrutar de la deliciosa cocina de Dani Frías en Santa Bar, en SantaFaz ❤️ Nos recibieron con una cerveza muuuy fresquita y unas patatas fritas con salsa de anchoas que estaban para chuparse los dedos, para dar paso a una comida redonda, de temporada, muy alicantina y con toques mediterráneos. Producto tan fresco como Patri, un encanto de mujer que nos atiende en mesa y nos recomienda estos “Pecados”: 🔥 🫒 Qué ensaladilla “Muy alicantina” con aceitunas, almendras y mojama. Una sabrosa ensaladilla tradicional con el punch del salazón que la hacía deliciosa. 🐷 Croquetas de Jamón. Súper cremosas con una bechamel aromatizada riquísima. 🧆 Buñuelos de Bacalao. Panipuri frito relleno de una sabrosa y fragante brandada de bacalao. Diferente y a la vez familiar, muy bien traído. 🥮 Coca amb Tonyina. Suculento bocado de bonito salado con su cebolla pochada, mahonesa de atún, piñones y pan de coca. El clásico alicantino de hogueras reconvertido en una tapa increíble. ¡Nuestro favorito! 🦑 Bocata de Calamares. En tempura negra de su propia tinta sobre un pan brioche con kimchi y mahonesa de lima. Una obra de arte hecha bocadillo. 🍗 Pollo a la brasa con salsa del jabalí y patatas fritas caseras. Pollo súper jugoso hecho a baja temperatura y terminado en brasas ¡Qué nos gustan esas carnes a doble cocción! 🍰 Torrija con helado de miel de azahar. ¡Otro clásico que no falla! 😁 ¡Muchas gracias a todo el equipo de SantaBar por el rato tan bueno que pasamos! 😍
