El Chilecito — Restaurant in Almeria

I don’t speak Spanish so it’s a bit awkward for me when ordering but the lady was lovely and didn’t have a problem with the language barrier, after a few days in almeria eating club sandwiches and tapas I decided to wander in with the mrs, I ordered a burrito and nachos whilst the mrs ordered some fries and a hamburger, man the food was unreal and I promised I’ll be back, I came back on the Monday but unfortunately it was closed Mondays so I missed out on trying the tacos etc, I highly recommend this place, I’m Irish so I like good quality foods and I felt quite at home here, I even bought a little momento as I was leaving a skull box which I will keep as a reminder of my visit, I hope to visit again...

It just seemed a poor excuse for a Mexican restaurant. I've never been to one that didn't offer rice, or beans. I asked the waitress for a recommendation, and she told me the plate with green or red peppers was good. Well, it was quite good, three stuffed mini-tortillas, smothered in cheese and a white sauce....but lacking anything else. There were no chips on the table, no salsa, no rice, no beans, absolutely nothing else but this $14 appetizer-sized portion....

The restaurant was well shaded, the servers were nice, and the margaritas were quite generous according to my girlfriend. The burrito de costillas was absolutely enormous. I would like to note that the tacos de cabeza were pork cabeza, not beef cabeza, which is still good but quite different. The red onions were also a nice touch. The customization of the burgers is great if you have picky eaters in your party. A great change of pace and a pleasant...
