Bola Marina Restaurante — Restaurant in Almuñécar

We visited this restaurant one night in a group of 3: my mother in law, my wife (vegetarian) and myself. We are seated at a high table next to the bar and we order 3 wines while we looked at the menu. Given the absence of various vegetarian options (only salad and mushroom dishes) we kindly inform the waiter that we are going to have to leave after finishing our wines. Then abruptly we are asked to leave the table and finish our wines at the bar, even though the place was not full. In fact, when we left the restaurant, the table was still empty. Before we leave, my mother in law voices her concerns about how unprofessional it was to move us from the table when we were going to leave soon anyway. The waiter who seemed to be responsible, treats her in a dismissive way with an unpleasant attitude and at no time does he apologize. What a pity! Very nice place. The bar has a modern but still very warm atmosphere. You can choose to eat your dinner here also, but there is this very stylishly designed dining room connected to the bar, yet separate and more quiet. The interior here is a fresh modern rococo in silver and grey colours. Both the bar and the dining room looks very clean and well maintained.

Then the food. I can only say yes, yes, yes. We ordered the 3 course menue. What can I say. Everything about the meal was just perfect. From the very professional waiter who made everything feel very posh, to the absolutely magnificent looking plates served with the most deliciously tasting courses. I don't know what happened here. This place used to be completely packed all the time, when we came for dinner last week only two tables were taken (I did expect less people because of covid, but this place had way less people than other places). They changed the menu a little bit, but in the process took out the things that we usually came for, for example the aubergines. The food was ok, but nothing special, don't know if it's worth the price. There were still no vegan options besides French fries. The staff was very attentive and did they're best, but that's not enough...
