Milongas — Restaurant in Ames

I wanted to like the restaurant, two things put me off giving it a higher rating.

Yes we were two pilgrims who had walked from Padron.

When we arrived at 1:20pm on a Saturday, we were taken to the back, directly outside the toilets and next to the children’s play area. Granted there was a space to put our backpacks

The lady showing us to the table was welcoming and friendly, the older man who served us was the opposite. Luckily the younger man who took our desert order was friendly and welcoming

The procession of people to the washroom , and the children playing kicking a ball into our table as well as the room was disconcerting

It made for an unpleasant experience , and we were the only people seated in that half of the restaurant

The food was good value and tasty but we were glad to leave but ended up across the road for after lunch wines...

We were heading back to the airport and had plenty of time for a last lunch in Galicia. A quick look on Google maps and we found this place - with online booking linked from the maps entry. Lunch was great - veal steak on the bone with chips and salad. Good flavour, nice and tender and perfectly cooked. The wine was superb. And the Dulce de leche dessert was a great way to finish. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly. This was probably the best meal we ate in Spain. A nice touch - there were families dining, - for their children - there was a play area with swings and climbing ropes with CCTV beamed to a TV in the restaurant so dining parents could...

We were in Milladoiro and decided to try Milongas Parrillada out for dinner. We didn't have a table reserved any it wasn't a problem. We were shown the size of our cut of meat (we chose a chuleta menu to share) and after an initial char on the grill, the meat was sliced up so we could cook it at the table to our liking. The chuleta was excellent and the sides of fries and salad were perfect to fill us up. What I liked about this place was that it's unpretentious, the staff (in particular Lisi) are really lovely and the food is the focus. You can tell the difference when you're in a place like this.
