I believe it is my worst experience in a restaurant. Everything went terribly wrong during dinner last friday.
First, we booked a table for four people a day before at 21:15 "as close as possible from the sea". When we arrived, the waiter points out a table which is along the wall of the restaurant that is "as far as possible from the sea".
Second, the waiter who came to take our order seemed really busy and it was very complicated to communicate with him (I speak spanish, french and english). He managed to take our order but only for drinks and came back with an excuse about the wine which was not available anymore. We ordered another one and for some mystical reason, he decided that only three of us should drink and left the table with the fourth glass of wine. My friend had to go inside and ask for another glass.
Third, after having our drinks, we waited almost one hour before a waiter decided to come (after I asked a few times) and took our order for food.
Fourth, when the food arrived, we were extremely disappointed. The rice in the paella was not cooked and the "carre de cordero" had sesame seeds on it. Our friend, who is allergic, asked a waiter (whom we believe to be the manager) if it were really sesame seeds and he said he would go to the kitchen and ask but when he came back he said that it was not possible to have sesame seeds in this meal. As we were convinced, we tried it and of course it was. He offered (aggressively) to cook again this meal but for that we should wait (around 20 minutes) or to cook it differently for us to wait only 5 minutes more. After all this, we were not convinced at all and we decided to switch meals so that our friend would not eat any sesame seed.
Finally, when the bill came, they tried to charge us for "Pan y aioli" for 8€ that we never ordered.
We told them in the end that for this range of price (even being in the Port d'Andratx), it was a shame to have such low quality service (different waiters running to all tables at the same time, waiting time, several misunderstanding with the customers) and the only thing that made us stay was the expectation of a high quality food which, as I already mentionned, was not at all the case (I had the "solomillo angus" and I was expecting better quality for the meat and above all that my vegetables would be at least grilled and not raw). Of course, the waiter we told it was saying "we tried" but somehow he made us understand that with so many people to serve it was complicated. Of course we can understand but if they can not have a good service, they should not accept so many reservations.
They tried to offer us something to drink in the end but we were not really into staying any longer in this place...
To finish, the table right behind us arrived at the same time and they left 2 hours later without having being served. We should have done the same thing before..
So I put one star, only because it is not possible put none. I would definitely recommend to avoid this place in the...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite restaurants in the entire world so far :) Out of 7 nights in Port d’andratx and trying other top rated restaurants, we couldn’t but come to Miramar for a second night to try new platters from the menu. On the first time and to begin with, they serve bread with aioli and green olives (that are so good). I ordered from the appetizers list “Grilled fresh squid”; when the platter came I saw a huge beautiful calamar 🦑 seasoned in a succulent way and this made me feel really full. Then my salad came, it was a quinoa salad with vegetables and prawns. The salad was full of fruits and vegetables and prawns, the sauce was top. My partner ordered the lamb platter (red plate) and a salad with beef. He enjoyed his food as well. The dessert was a brownie with vanilla ice cream and some fruits sauce, it was delicious. We were so happy with the food, wine (rosé), service (always staff are coming to clean and check whether we need anything) so that we decided to come back on our last night before leaving Port d’Andratx. I ordered mussels cooked in vinegar, garlic and tomato sauce. They were really good. We tried the beetroot salad with goat cheese and it was worth it as well. My partner ordered tagliatelle with bolognese sauce and parmesan, and he liked it a lot :) I wanted to share my detailed experience as I would really recommend this restaurant and obviously each platter...
Read moreThe meat in this place is exceptionally good, just a notch ahead of fish, wine, and everthing else. Irish, Scottish and Australian beef all feature - try Chateaubriand. Miramar is reasonably priced for exceptional food. The operator, Juliano, has worked his own way up the restaurant food chain in Port d'Andratx to be at the gold medal end, along with Paco at Club de Vela, and CanPep/Rocamar. Juliano still watches every detail of food and service like a hawk. He ought to run Mallorca state which still encourages rough trade at Magalouf, and has Palma full of giant cruise ships whose rubber-necking day trippers spending nought. Locked in guests at all-in hotels also pull the island down. Port d'Andratx, Sol, Deia, Alaro, Tramantato mountains, are places to see and...
