On the plus side we enjoyed the food and thought the prices were reasonable. The setting is very nice and the staff were friendly. Service was slow but we did not mind that as we wanted a relaxed meal. However, we went to the restaurant because it advertises "Gluten free and Vegan options" on its google maps site. The starters were not labelled with allergens on the menu and the main course gluten free options were very limitted. They did have a gluten free roll and there was one gluten free dessert, The only vegan option seemed to be the salad. This was described in hyperbolic terms, but is not as good as a salad we had in nearby Trabuco. There were no vegan desserts. I strongly advise vegans to find somewhere else to eat. The menu is only available by scanning a code on your phone. We had been out all day and our phones were all low on power. There should be another way of seeing the menu, or the waiting staff should know it well enough not to need it. Overall I got the impression that they care more about their own preferenvces than their guests'. I can see why a restaurant critic with no dietary issues might rate it highly but they could do so much better. With very little effort this could be a genuinely outstanding restaurant. Finally, I suggest that they look to sourcing their basic steak from Ireland rather than the USA if they want the best. (I am not Irish) Update for 2025: the allergens are better labelled, staff were well informed they had fruit as a vegan desert. This time they tried harder all round and I can...
Read moreTruly disappointing experience. After reading number of positive reviews we we're really looking forward to our lunch. In fact, we drove over an hour to get here. Now we wish we haven't.
We were the first table to arrive. We've ordered 4 starters and 4 main courses. All to share. It took them just under an hour to serve the first dish - a cold, cheese salad. An hour!
Dishes were slowly, really slowly arriving one by one even tho we were clear we wanted food to arrive as close together as possible.
Overall, we've been there for almost 2.5h , one main course haven't even arrived. Venison was way under, duck was under. Cod was good. The only reason we didn't come out starving was 2 portions of bread served within the first hour.
Needless to say, we'll...
Read moreInventive and Delicious Many restaurants say they fuse food traditions or have a twist on traditional regional food. But very few can pull it off. I am pleased to report that Restaurante Arxiduna does this well. Even though the names of the dishes look familiar the way they are executed is not. The flavours are subtle and interesting. The service is also excellent in a fun setting (caves). In my opinion the only improvements that could be made would be to have fuller descriptions of the food and to serve it on hot plates. Overall an excellent experience. We...
