Mas Taxonera — Restaurant in Arenys de Mar

First of all, the restaurant is beautiful, a house from 1500's. The outside seating is comfortable and you get a view of the steaks grilling by the fireside. We were three people and ordered the steak meal for two. The first plate was loaded with salad, papas bravas, and a delicious fried eggplant sliced thin and drizzled with honey. There was plenty for everyone and we took leftovers. Then the steak came out. It was rare, and you get a tray of coals with a solid grill top to finish all the slices to your desired level. Each slice was like its own steak! We made the fat get crispy and even cooked the leftovers a little. Our server was very good and kind. She invited us in to see the interior of the restaurant when we were finished. I'd give this place ten stars if I could! Unpleasant experience. Really bad service. Some of them, extremely rude. I understand we were a big group (33) , but when you go get calçots usually thats the case ... also, we got the 35eur menu which included calçots, one other dish per person (chicken/steak/sausage), one drink or wine and coffee OR dessert. Really small portions. We had to order everything extra (paying more of course). Just for 2small pieces of bread per person we had to pay over 100eur... Overall just a really bad experience. Except for some of the staff and the place which was nice.

This Restaurant serves fantastic grilled food. The meat I had was super tender and delicious and sizzled to my liking on a table grill filled with embers. But this place is not just for meat eaters. I came here with several vegetarian friends and the options for them were equally tasty: Cheeseplatters, a host of different dishes with grilled vegetables of the tastiest kind, and of course the traditional calçots with romesco sauce! Outside and inside seating is generous and charming and so is the staff! Dont miss out on the exquisite pineapple grilled in rhum for desert! I will definitely come back...
