Chinatown Restaurante — Restaurant in Arona

Visited here on our last night in Tenerife and went for a set menu for 2.

It wasn't to busy and got a table pretty much straight away. It's very nicely decorated inside. Had a choice of starters, entree, main. Love egg drop soup, so went for chicken and sweetcorn partner went for chicken noodle very nice with the complimentary shrimp crackers.

We had ordered crispy duck with pancakes as our next. Didn't expect a large half duck, which was shredded at our table. Nice to have homemade plum or hoisin sauce with that. I began worrying about the mains, which would be our next course.

I expected 1 main between us, not 2 mains, with a large serving of their house fried rice to share. Chicken curry and beef with oyster sauce. I have never had such tender meats. Both mains were excellent

If you've read some of my other reviews, you know I'm quite fussy and can be difficult to please.

I'm definitely very happy with what we had. Everything gets top marks for me. Food, Service, cleanliness, and decor.

The slight downside was no modern ciders, wkds, Guiness or premium drinks. Just basic beers, spirits, and soft drinks.

Went for a meal with my wife and before ordering meals ask the waitress do you use MSG in your food ?She replied yes and after going through the menu found a meal for my wife that according to the waitress had no MSG.I am not normally effected by MSG as my wife is but on the following day spent the morning sat on the toilet . So if you are allergic to MSG then give this place a miss.Saying that the actual place was very well laid out and the staff helpful.It was a Saturday night when we went and it was not busy on about three tables occupied which I thought unusual for a Saturday evening, maybe it’s the MSG that’s keeping people from coming ?Ban in most country’s but not in Spain.So if you have a meal out...

Very good food and the staff was very nice. The Spanish manager is very nice and kind man, even when there was no electricity and I couldn't pay with my credit card, and had no cash on me, he understood and let me eat and give him the money later. It never happened to me to a restaurant before. With his gesture he gained me as a client for sure, on a regular basis. Very large portions at a very good price. I definitely recommend it.
