We waited in line for about 10 minutes after our Camino hike and when we finally got to the front, the waitress informed us that all the tables were fully booked. It would have been great if we had known that earlier
This was the owner’s reply
Dear Dr. Roshini Salam, Your comment seems more focused on causing harm than offering anything constructive. We're sorry you couldn't have dinner with us, but you arrived without a reservation at a place with high demand, in a small town where most places are closed on Mondays. Knowing that -as anyone walking the Camino would-the logical thing would have been to book ahead, like everyone else did. We cannot be held responsible for the lack of availability when someone decides to show up without planning. This kind of review doesn't reflect a bad experience -because there was none- but rather a personal frustration that unfairly damages the work of a team that gives its all every single day. At Il Fornaccio, we are considering reporting this review, as it negatively affects our reputation without any valid reason, and we trust that Google will be able to tell the difference between legitimate feedback and a mere tantrum. We hope that next time, instead of punishing us with a one-star review, you'll think of planning ahead like everyone else. Kind regards. 凸
My reply to the owner of the business & Google removed my post without looking into the details
I want to clarify that my comments were not intended to harm your business.
As a tourist hiking the Camino, my group and I did not realize until Il Fornaccio Arzúa required advance reservations. While waiting in line, we noticed a gentleman and a lady before us and your waitstaff disregarded us. & continued with their work. Rather than informing us that the restaurant was fully booked, we were left waiting, assuming we would be served since many tables appeared to be empty.
My one-star review reflects the disappointment regarding how we were ignored and not treated with friendly and professionally while we patiently waited.
FYI Google, three days ago, there was another review for a...
Read moreYES. My partner and I are from the States. He is a chef and I am a server. We LOVE food. We are on day 29 of our Camino hike. We try to eat at the best reviewed places we can, but nothing has impressed me enough to take the time out of our experience to write a review. Until now. We have succumbed to pizza temptations a few times on the Camino, and—after many disappointments—we decided to give pizza in Spain one last shot. I’m so glad we did. This place has it right. We ordered their special (a white lasagna with mushrooms) and a pizza with half spinach, garlic, and goat cheese and half octopus and chili seasoning. Really all I can say is that we were so supremely thrilled to have a meal that was so thoughtfully crafted and prepared. The flavors and textures were all there and then some. The tiramisu was lovely as well. And the service was great (well-spoken english, too!) If you are walking the Camino I highly, highly recommend making a stop here. It’s a bit pricier than your typical pilgrim menu, but...
Read moreThe food? Actually not bad. So why the low rating? Five Camino colleague-peregrinos entering the venue in an empty (!!) restaurant with plenty of tables and the waitress not even allowing me to join their table for a small chit chat. Not blocking anything, not taking any space from other customers, not causing any harm. So I went backed off to my table, not creating any trouble. But the harm was already done. My colleague peregrinos were flabbergasted by this lack of hospitality that they haven’t experienced on the 700+ kilometers before on the Camino and simply decided to leave the venue instead of taking a meal. The cook (or owner) started to throw insults and is an absolute disgrace. If you don’t like peregrinos, then don’t open a...
