Done the early tour, didn't leave until after 4pm 😂 to be honest we both don't really drink cider so it was good to learn about the traditional way it was produced and how the company has evolved over the generations on that site. We had a fantastic guide helping us understand the old way of production and the new way but you can see some of the traditions have stayed. This site is evolving, with a gift shop just getting built and another dining area just underway, the future is definitely bright. It's good to see a company continue to invest in something so successful over the past generations. After the tour the experience really begins. We had our cider glass ready, went back into the cider barrel room for the tasting. Back to our table to enjoy great food, back to the cider barrel room and so this continues until you are full of food and full of delicious different ciders, or until you fall over drunk. Which ever comes first! Staff are very friendly and helpful but it gets really busy later in the day so remember to be patient. It's great that no one is over you saying "this is your only measurement of cider", you can go into the cider room as many times as you want. Try to be traditional tho and remember to keep the measurement short and finish the drink after you catch it. Yes, you learn to catch cider! Don't take the cider back to your table, don't fill your glass as this leads to a less fresh tasting cider. Just a mouth full. From barrel to glass then straight to your mouth! Repeat! Great experience and...
Read moreCider house is one of the most Basque Experience that you can do in Basque Country. Sardotegi is a really folkoristic place with big areas that can accept a lot of people. You can make the experience of draw directly from the tank with you glass the cider! The hosts will help you to understand the differences. All the servings are huge and the main menù includes 4 of them plus the unlimited draw of cider directly from the tanks. They have a lot of menù, included vegan and vegetarian meals. The dishes are really good and are based on the most traditional and tipical food of this geographical area such as: tortilla de bacalao, bacalao con pimpiento, txuleta (i think the best part of the dishes) and as desser membrillo y queso. The service is really fast, but between of them you need to stand up in order to take the cider. An important point is remember to reserve a table in advance because is always almost full even if they have a lot of space. You can reach the sardotegi with the bus from San Sebastian/Donosti in 20 minutes and 10 minutes of walk from the bus stop.

Read moreHad heard about this place for awhile and wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately we weren’t able to schedule a tour, as we came spontaneously. Very unique location and beautiful area. The experience was a bit disappointing only because there was very little explanation as to what to do. We walked into the restaurant and it wasn’t a super full. We were seated in a reasonable time but then no one really came over to explain how it worked or that it was a fixed menu or ask what we wanted to order. After about 20 mins we had to get up and ask for service. It still took multiple times of getting clarification before we could get a waitress to take our order. And it wasn’t a language barrier because I speak Spanish. We finally got the idea that you take your glass and go into the cider bodega to get it filled. It comes with a fixed menu of $20-30 depending on what you prefer. The steak was delicious and the cider tasty. Giving this a 4 overall because of the lack of service. Think they assumed we knew why to do and didn’t bother to be helpful. Otherwise it was a...
