We were recommended this restaurant by two locals who spoke very highly of this restaurant saying one of the best restaurant in town. Beautiful restaurant with a modern atmosphere with a great story that was featured in a famous novel, if you go you will understand when you experience it. When we arrived we were immediately greeted with a friendly smile and welcoming words. Our "waiter" Ramon, who we found out at the end of the meal was actually the owner treated us in an excellent manner . He explained the menu in detail and offered us recommendations. I could tell he was very proud of the food which he should be because it was so delicious! We started with the local Cecina and homemade chorizo which was different from the typical cecina I usually eat from Leon. It was tender, smoky and I could have just eaten that and been satisfied. We tried the cocido "Maragato" which is the cocido style from this area. I have eaten in the best cocido restaurants in Madrid and I can assure you that this cocido was one of the best ones I have ever tried. The cocido featured all local products which were super delicious. each of the meats were individually spectacular, you definitely need to to try this coicdo. We also had the Alubias Blancas, the local white beans with homemade chorizo, it was so flavorful. We were too full for dessert but we will definitely visit again. Ramon also wrote down the store where I could buy authentic cecina from Astorga. Thank you Ramon for an awesome lunch in Astorga!

We didn't stay at the hotel since ours was a day visit to Astorga. If you visit norther Spain, you have to to spend at least a day in this quaint small city just 45 minutes for the city of Leon and you must stop at the restaurant La Peseta. The food quality, presentation and service are top notch. The Cocido Maragato (Maragato Stew) is delicious and so rich and abundant that one order will satisfy two people with some to spare. They use the freshest ingredients in their salads and the highest quality olive oil. We were waited by the owner who is on the restaurant floor to assure that customers are completely satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. The local is very nice and well located in the old historic city center. You cannot go wrong having lunch or dinner...

I stayed here for 6 nights in order to recuperate from tendonitis which I got while walking the Camino. The staff was very attentive in helping me with my needs like giving me ice for my knees. When it came for me to take the train, the manager went to the train station and bought me my ticket to save me from taking a cab to the station and from having to walk which was painful for me to do the day before my departure.||||The hotel is very clean and I had a balcony with a view of the street. I loved the bathroom shower. The hotel has been with the same family for 5 generations. They have great service and a great restaurant. The Chef even went out of his way to roast some chestnuts for me. I had bought the raw chestnuts at the Tuesday market held in front...
