Karma — Restaurant in Balaguer

We were visiting the area for the first time in our motorhome and decided to look for a "menu del dia". It was very difficult to find one as there were no up to date menus and prices on restaurant reviews. But we choose this restaurant hopeful that they would show the menu and price outside, which they did and gave us time as visitors that don't know the restaurant to decide if it's what we want.

We decided to sit inside as the terrace or outside on the covered path was €2.50 extra. Inside there was fairly busy but there were a few tables available.

The waitress seated us and asked her colleague to look after us as she had English.

A bottle of red wine, a small bottle of gaseo, a basket of bread and a small dish with olives were placed on the table.

First course.... My wife had the "Amanida amp Tonyina y ou du" (salad with tuna and egg). There was no tuna on the salad. Maybe it was an over sight. She really enjoyed it.

I had the "Estofat de Patates a la Riojana" (Riojana-style potato stew). It was a plate full of sliced potatoes with small pieces of bacon. It was nice and filling.

Second course.... My wife had the "Iluç Enfarinat" (floured hake). The plate came with 3 strips of floured hake with potatoes and deep fried vegetables in a light flour like tempura vegetables. She loved it. It was light and tasty.

I had the "Solomillo de Porc" (pork tenderloin). The plate came with 3 pieces of pork, potatoes and deep fried lightly floured vegetables with some garlic butter. One of the pieces of pork was cooked rare but I think it was actually a piece of beef. The dish was really tasty and I really enjoyed it.

Desert course.... My wife had the "Crema Catalana Casolà" (homemade Catalan cream). It's basically a custard. Again she loved the dish. I had "Braç Casolà amb Crema de vainilla de coco" (homemade cake with coconut vanilla cream). Lovely.

We also got 2 Catalan alcohol shot to finish.

The waitress was friendly and very efficient. The food was well presented and well seasoned so tasted good. It's a lovely restaurant with good choices on the menu for a good price. We would definitely return.

we ordered two sandwiches, one with chicken and one with breaded chicken. my girlfriend ate the breaded chicken, she has been vomiting for 12 hours and has been laying in bed with a fever since then. 2 days of her vacation are ruined because of food poisoning from this place. i tried one bite of the chicken and couldnt eat more, super bad quality, probably super old meat, bad service. do not go here. thanks for ruining my...

Restaurante de Balaguer muy recomendable: Local grande, amplio y espacioso, que te hace sentir en un ambiente muy agradable. La atención del personal de sala fantástico, muy amables y serviciales en todo momento. Trato de proximidad, muy familiar. La comida muy sabrosa, casera con producto fresco y de calidad, muy bien tratado-sazonado. Se nota que en la cocina ponen amor y esmero para que los comensales salgan satisfechos. La relación calidad-precio fenomenal, 20,00 € por comensal el menú de sábado con 6 primeros, 12 segundos brasa incluida y 6 postres a escoger con raciones muy generosas. Comimos de primero sopa de escudella y rissotto de verduras y setas. De segundo muslo de pollo a la brasa. De postre rematamos con lionesas de nata con chocolate y helado de coco.
