We had high expectations for Cap Sa Sal, especially given its stunning location, but our experience was unfortunately one of the worst we’ve had while dining out—and it completely ruined our final evening in the area.
I made a reservation by phone last Thursday for 20:00 on Monday (yesterday evening). The call ended with a clear confirmation and a thank you—everything seemed in order. After a 35- to 40-minute drive (which cost us around €85 in total), we arrived only to be told there was no reservation. When checking the system, the reservation under my name appeared greyed out. The manager claimed I was sent an email to validate it—impossible, since I never provided an email address during the call. He then shifted the story, saying I must have received a call or a text, which I double-checked—nothing.
As a result, no terrace tables were available (the main reason we chose this restaurant), and we were stuck at a corner table next to the entrance, with a poor view through a dirty window. The manager was dismissive and made no effort to compensate for the mistake or inconvenience.
Trying not to let this ruin our evening, we stayed—but things only got worse. When we attempted to start with oysters while reviewing the rest of the menu, the waiter rudely told us we had to order everything at once. When we said we didn’t want to rush, he simply walked away mid-conversation. We even tried to turn things around, speaking with another waiter and saying we hoped to restart and salvage the evening. His response? “F’ing Dutch people” in Spanish, followed by a rude gesture—as if we wouldn’t understand.
We reported the incident to the manager, but again, no accountability. He confronted the waiter, who of course denied it, and the manager sided with him. No apology. No care.
This place might have the view, but it certainly doesn’t have the staff or service to deserve such a setting. The manager was as unprofessional as the waiters—rude, unhelpful, and dishonest.
Do yourself a favor: skip the overpriced view and go to any of the amazing local restaurants in Begur, where people actually care about the food, the service, and...
Read moreFirst of all, I would like to mention that we had a very delicious meal without exception, and the location was fantastic. We got a nice spot in the restaurant.
Now to the unpleasant things that I must mention, which really annoyed me afterward.
We were escorted to our table and quickly ordered our food and drinks, so far so good. Once we received our items, we were completely ignored for the rest of the evening. Not a single staff member asked if we wanted anything else; we were practically invisible. We were never asked if we might like another drink, so each of us only had one drink because no one came back to check on us. Additionally, we noticed that all other guests in the restaurant were offered bread from a basket. Unfortunately, this did not happen at our table; no one ever came to us. We had the impression that the young male server's language skills were so limited that he wanted to avoid us. This cannot be the case in such a location, I am truly sorry!
The final straw was when we paid. We paid by credit card, but because our server did not speak English, we were charged in US dollars. Due to the currency difference from euros and the daily exchange rate, we ended up paying an additional 6€ more than the bill actually showed.
All in all, it was a very disappointing evening, and under these circumstances, we cannot recommend your establishment.
I also mentioned all of this to the young lady at the front desk. However, apart from an "OK," there was no real reaction. We really expected more from our visit to your place. Very...
