Mixed feelings! This restaurant is located in a pretty square in Benalmadena Pueblo. The menu was good and had dishes that suited us both, and we noticed a sign saying that they had a lovely sunny roof terrace so we decided to stop for lunch. The building itself was very characterful but we found the roof terrace a big let down. The area was untidy with a broken parasol propped up in a corner, and the tables and chairs were the type that you would expect to find in a cheap bar, which may be ok for a drink but in our opinion not suitable for a lunch in a nice restaurant. So we decided on a table on the second floor by a window that had lovely views over the square and had linen tablecloths and napkins, a nice touch. The waitress took our drinks order and along with a beer I asked for a glass of red wine to accompany my main course. We ordered pork belly and the slow cooked ribs. Whilst waiting for our food to arrive we were given two rolls that we did not ask for along with some olive oil and 4 different types of salt. When our main courses arrived my glass of wine was nowhere to be seen, strangely a man appeared saying that he worked on the restaurants social media side for the business and would sort it out, and the wine duly arrived a few minutes later. The pork belly was excellent but unfortunately the ribs were very disappointing as they were tough and chewy, not what you would expect for slow cooked ribs. A waiter came and asked if everything was ok and we explained about the issue with the ribs, he was very apologetic and offered to exchange the dish which we declined. When we had finished we had to go down stairs to ask for the bill. The waiter explained that the ribs had been removed from the bill which we did not ask for and was not necessary, however the gesture was appreciated. Finally after returning to our hotel later in the afternoon we noticed that we had been charged for the bread that we did not ask for (only a couple of Euro's so not a big deal) but sadly the practice of offering chargeable coverts still seems to be the norm in Spain and is something that we really dislike. We enjoyed the bread and were happy to pay for it but please make your customers aware that something is chargeable if offered, especially if they have not asked for it. The service, although friendly and polite, was slow and not very attentive. Sadly based on our overall experience we would not...
Read moreIt was the first visit to this popular restaurant. The restaurant is situated in a quaint square which overlooks a fountain. As for the restaurant we booked a table for 4 and were greeted by a waiter and shown to our table. We checked out the menu and also noticed what was on the special menu, Rib eye and Toma hawk steaks which looked incredible. It was nice to see a cold refreshing pint in a proper pint glass with just the right amount of head on the Victoria. We ordered a starter of Scallops with Black pudding which was beautiful presented with prawns. For our mains we ordered fillet steak with a block of hand cut chips with a small bunch of cherry tomatoes on the vine and mushrooms. I can only say they were cooked to perfection and flavours were excellent. Our friends ordered a rack of Lamb which I have forgot what they came with but they eat all and commented on how good they were, sorry I was to busy enjoying our steaks to remember. We checked out the wine list which is well equipped and we'll priced after a couple of bottles of white and a couple of bottles of red we were definitely full and happy we booked this restaurant. The service was great the atmosphere the setting is perfect and the food was fantastic and the cost was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone to try if they have not as yet and we will be returning very soon as we have found a little gem. It's nice to be able to take time to write about a fantastic restaurant and thanks to the staff and their Chefs for an...
Read moreA truly authentic dining experience in Benalmadena Pueblo the Restaurant La Fuente. Nestled in the beautiful Plaza de España, this restaurant is housed in a stunning old traditional building that perfectly captures the charm and history of the area.
But it's not just the beautiful setting that sets Restaurant La Fuente apart - the food is absolutely delicious. From the first bite, you'll be drawn in, with expertly prepared dishes that are bursting with flavor. The menu features a wide variety of options, from classic Spanish tapas to hearty main courses and fresh seafood. My only dissapointment was that I didn't get to try the slow-roasted pork belly dish which was sold out.
The staff at Restaurant La Fuente are attentive and welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed for a great evening. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a regular, you'll feel right at home here.
If you're lucky enough to visit during holy week, you're in for an extra special treat. From the window of the restaurant, you can watch the parade go by or join the cheering onlookers in the plaza. It's an unforgettable experience that perfectly captures the spirit and tradition of the area.
