Eskura — Restaurant in Bermeo

My wife and I were visiting here and the service was incredible. They were both so kind, they invited us over as we were walking down the street while they were setting up and made us feel so welcomed. They also provided a blanket for my wife without us even asking for it when it was cold and rainy and ensured we were comfortable and covered from the rain. The food was the best sushi we have ever had as well, and the presentation was very pretty and also intimate as they described each of the dishes they brought out. Absolutely adored this place and the people working there, and hope that that everyone checks them out in Bermeo. They deserve all of the praise....

As reported on previous comments: we had a reservation confirmed months before. On the day of the reservation, barely an hour before we were meant to be at the restaurant we received a cancellation by email. They didn’t even dare calling us. The reason: the chef was sick. I followed up with several calls (no answer) and an email to try to better understand this. An accident can certainly happen but a sickness coming up just an hour before? Now that I see the other reviews, I understand that this practice is probably more common than what one would expect from such a place. Long story short: keep your options open as you may need to end up at a restaurant...

In a town in Spain that (surprisingly) has atrocious food in most places, Eskura was a safe haven for amazing food. Some of the best sushi I have ever had. The menu was not very extensive (which I always see as a sign of quality), but every single item was delicious. The freshness of the ingredients and the flavors of the food was amazing. The cherry on top was the friendliness of both the staff and the chef. They were great people! We ate here twice in our 3-day trip. I would eat here...
