Beraia jatetxea — Restaurant in Bilbao

There are not many places I would give 5 stars to, but Considering the price, quality, atmosphere and attentiveness of the staff, this restaurant was a fantastic discovery.

Me and my girlfriend are visiting Bilbao for the weekend and wanted to find somewhere new for dinner. We thought we'd go inside and test the bar first with a drink and tapa. After being very happy with the result we decided to book two seats for a menu del dia the next day with the manager. The next day the food was exceptional, every member of staff were thoroughly professional and the whole experience was one which made our little break even more special.

We had a couple of pintxos, galicean octopus, the fried lamb and the patatas. Everything was much much salted. A poulp pintxos was smelling older than it was supposed to. You can taste the low quality of the oil in the galicean octopus (I come from an olive oil producing region) and the lamb and patatas were seasonned with industrial sauce / mayonnaise, ruining the taste. Prices are fair, but I expected more work in the kitchen in a place with more than 4 stars on Google maps. As a tourist, I feel I lost an opportunity to go enjoy a meal elsewhere. The waiter...

Groaznic, nu recomand! In seara de 24 august, ne asezam 2 persoane la masa, inauntru, in jurul orei 22 - 22:30. Suntem serviti cu 2 portii de hamburger si cartofi prajiti, 2 bauturi, o bere si mai asteptam un desert, bazandu-ne pe faptul ca se inchide la 00, asa cum scrie pe Google Maps (nu acuz Google pentru ca nu a actualizat la timp, dar puteam fi anuntati de restaurant de faptul ca se inchide la ora 23). Ospatarita nu stia engleza, dar am apreciat faptul ca a venit cu un meniu in engleza si a facut efort sa inteleaga pentru a putea comunica cu noi. Ceea ce ne-a surprins este ca la ora 22:50-55, imediat ce a venit desertul, femeia ce matura prin restaurant ne-a spus pe un ton foarte agresiv ca se inchide, noi abia incepand a consuma din desert / bere, iar cu 2 minute mai tarziu a inceput sa mature exact pe langa picioarele noastre, ridicand tot praful pe masa (probabil special pentru a pleca mai repede), aruncand dupa ce s-a indepartat o privire foarte urata. Aproape ne-am grabit sa terminam bauturile, ospatarita ce ne-a servit s-a schimbat instant de haine, fara a ne anunta in prealabil ca barul se inchide la 23 si a lasat-o pe femeia de servici sa ne ia de pe masa paharele cu agresivitate. Practic, am fost dati afara din restaurant ca pe 2 carpe, nu recomand in niciun fel daca doriti sa fiti respectati ca si clienti!
