Mesón Barmaña: A Tapas Treasure in Caldas de Reis Nestled in the charming town of Caldas de Reis, Mesón Barmaña offers a truly delightful Galician dining experience. If you're looking for a place that serves up traditional tapas with an abundance of flavor and excellent service, this is it. Our evening at Mesón Barmaña was a testament to the simple excellence of Galician cuisine. The "tapas" were the stars of the show, each dish a perfect example of fresh, quality ingredients prepared with care. We started with the classic pimientos de padrón, a handful of green peppers that were perfectly fried and seasoned, with just the right level of heat to keep things interesting. The culinary adventure continued with the incredibly tender octopus, which was served with succulent shrimp and delicate angulas (baby eels). This combination of land and sea was a revelation, showcasing the richness of local produce. The boiled pork ear was another highlight—a rustic, authentic dish that was full of flavor and a true taste of Galician tradition. Finally, the vieiras (scallops) were absolutely superb, cooked to perfection and a fitting finale to our tapas feast. To complement our meal, we enjoyed a few rounds of classic Spanish beer, which was cold, crisp, and the ideal pairing for the savory dishes. Beyond the fantastic food, the service at Mesón Barmaña was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The excellent service combined with the outstanding food made for a memorable and highly enjoyable dining experience. In a town with many culinary options, Mesón Barmaña stands out as a must-visit for anyone seeking a genuine taste of Galicia. It's a place where tradition, quality, and hospitality come together to create a truly special experience. We left feeling satisfied and...

The waiter assured us that 3 portions plus one seafood mix for three people would be too much - by the end we were still hungry even though he said we ordered the huge portion. Relatively small portions (we are not American). There were still giblets in the squid. Potatoes were undercooked (still hard inside) Lovely service that cares about your well-being, shame English is not even used on the menu here. Read moreWe had the Parrillada de Mariscos a la Plancha for 2 with 8 well seasoned and grilled scallops and a whole lot of shrimps and langustinas. The latters were well done and a little crispy. We loved the scallops (Zamburiñas) so much we took a big platter of 12 (racion of Zamburiñas). The seasoning and the cooking where so good we had a wonderful Tapas diner with our glasses of white wine and not for an expensive price compared to the regular galician restaurant where we saw just a few cooked scallops on a plate. We really love this kind of house where the owner greets and treats guest like friends and gives a warm welcome with quality...
