Restaurant Oscar — Restaurant in Calp

We originally stopped for a beer after walking there from Playa del Arenal in Calpe, very pleasant, spoke to the son and his father who is Spanish but moved to the area from Calgary, Canada. EUR2.50 for Bottle of Mahou, which is fine considering you are in an area with 3 restaurants and 0 shops.

We then walked up to the top of the mountain that is close by and returned later around dinner time, we had no reservation and the place was fairly busy but we were accommodated with no issues.

The menu has 2 specials menus, a grill and a gourmet menu, both looked fabulous with 2 choices for each course, both menus cost EUR25, so they let us mix between both menus so in theory you have 4 choices for each course which is great. There is also an a la carte menu with some dishes that make your mouth water just reading them.

We ordered the Salmon and Quinoa Salad, the Entrecote of Steak and the Sea Bass, with a White wine Sangria to drink. The Sangria was very refreshing and different. We were given some bread, olives, tomatoes and a garlic mayo as an appetizer, it was delicious. The starter arrived and it looked beautiful you didn't want to spoil it, and it tasted even better. The steak was supposed to be 250g, there scales must be broken as it was much bigger and tasted awesome, the Sea bass once again was a work of art, found 3 bones which is a pity but 3 is not that bad, and you didn't mind as your mouth was in heaven. For desert there was a bigger choice than just the 4, and every one sounded delicious, we plucked for Forest Fruit with Amaretto cream and Coconut ice cream in white chocolate, sorry my descriptions do not do it justice, both deserts were orgasmic.

Next time we plan to take a walk to Oscars, arrive during the day, have lunch and utilise the beautiful and large swimming pool (EUR4) as we do not have access to a pool, just the sea, have a few beers and stay on for dinner. And if not too hot maybe play a little tennis.

This place is so good the hike there is worth it from anywhere in Calpe, and if you fortunate use your wheels, or even hire a taxi, you...

We are used to going to this place, all year round. For the main dish, we got 4x the T-bone steak. One of them was only fat and we asked to have it changed. We waited for 30 minutes to have a new one, then asked when it was arriving. The manager came out and said it was the same piece of meat as every other one and they weren’t going to change it. We asked why that was and the conversation got very heated. When leaving, I said to one of the waitresses that it was very cowardly from the manager to not even come out of the kitchen ever since this incident happen, not even apologising or anything. The cook then came out and said calling his brother (the manager) a coward was an insult and he would physically kick me out of the restaurant if I didn’t stop calling him this. Empezare comentando que el entorno y lugar son agradables pero esto no acompaña cuando el trato no es el que debería ser… hay una zona en la que puedes tomar un aperitivo y disfrutar de la piscina, pues bien pedimos unos martinis que estaban calientes y con presentación 0, ademas de que tuvimos que esperar bastante para que alguien se acercara a tomarnos nota. La ducha antes del baño es obligatoria como es correcto pero para ello la zona de ducha que ofrecen deja mucho que desear puesto que estaba sucia y daba nose que meterse a ducharse ahi. En cuanto a la zona de comida mesas muy amplias y espacioso, nos disponemos a pedir y el menú que ofrecen en carta resulta que esta disponible para la cena pero no para la comida, cosa que no se refleja ni en web ni en la propia carta. En cuanto a la carta muy escasa y pocas opciones y las que hay a precios desorbitados respecto cantidad/calidad y algunas de ellas ni siquiera disponibles como paso en nuestro caso. Nos ofrece un chuletón para dos trinchado, pues vino sin trinchar… pido salsa a parte y me dice que lo consulta; nunca obtuve respuesta… cuándo nos sirven el chuletón vuelvo a comentar lo de la salsa, me dicen que va a mirar; pues tampoco obtuve respuesta. Ni siquiera nos preguntaron como queríamos el punto de la carne, cosa curiosa. El menú de niño lleva plato principal, bebida y helado…bien, nos sirvieron el plato principal del resto nada, eso si el menú lo pagamos entero.. El trato de los camareros mas seco y serio imposible, lo que crea mucha incomodidad. A pesar de que el entorno es muy agradable no volveríamos, para nosotros el trato no fue correcto y los precios nos parecieron inflados para lo que sirven....
