Restaurante l´Escandall Cambrils — Restaurant in Cambrils

I was a little apprehensive of this restaurant because of its beachfront location set right next to some very touristy looking restaurants (with photos of the food out the front, etc). We were pleasantly surprised with their menu del dia. It was very well priced and the food was excellent. The menu stated that we would have wine with the meal - we didn’t expect a bottle of nice wine. The paella was so tasty as was the salad and dessert....

La situació és immillorable. Tot i situar-nos a l'exterior, havien ventiladors per remoure l'aire. La presentació dels plats és correcta. L'arròs (paella) correcta (sobretot el punt de cocció, quant al sabor res de l'altre món), la fideuà mediocre (fideus passats, gust insípid, sospita d'infradosificació d'Avecrem, perquè estava dolça). Les tapetes per picar bé. La sangria, que fan ells, normal.

El preu desorbitat: SENSE postres, un platet de fideuà i un platet d'arròs (sí, platET), amb 8 tapes per compartir entre 12 persones superant els 45 Euros per persona, quelcom que, penso, és inacceptable. Si l'arròs fos "prèmium" (i no una paella "bàsica", sigui amb 1 gamba o 1 llagostí o 1 escamarlà per cadascú i no havent-nos de "partir" les bèsties) i la fideuà tingués gust a fideuà podríem discutir el preu, però com que no fou així, no hi tornaré per a evitar que m'alcin la camisa un altre cop.

Entenc que durant la covid el sector de la restauració ho ha passat malament, però no tot s'hi val, no, no...

Tried the menu of the day here - appeared a bit pricier than others but with wine, water, bread and the usual 3 selections all included, it was quite the bargain! Staff were so pleasant and friendly and the food was so fresh and perfect for a lovely break from swimming at the beach the restaurant looks over. Left very full...
