The island of Majorca, sitting within the Iberian archipelago of islands, is literally my version of heaven. The hatred (literally) of foreigners didn't manifest into daily life on the island for a long time, having been a visiter over the last 10 years without issue, but as of 2023, things were palpable; sadly, my first experience was at Forn sa Ràpita. Here, over 2 visits, my family and I were signaled out for our accents and were treated with disgust. Literal disdain; palpable. It was so shocking and sad, because Forn sa Ràpita held so many memories for us as a family; a place when our children were young where we gathered for fresh orange juice in the morning, a late afternoon snack or gelato at the end of the night (downtown Sa Ràpita is a fun place at night; be aware of the bikers!). After our last encounter at this local restaurant, we never returned, and it actually ruined our feelings towards the island. I spoke to a pharmacist (next door to the restaurant) and she said that locals disdain for international travelers starts in June and ends October. Understanding their grievance with visitors is elementary; price increase, living expenses sky rocketing since the pandemic; a dual edged sword. I love the Majorcan pride; literally the most beautiful people I've met; proud of their ancestry (rightly so) and their island. But, if they don't want us, I honor that too. Hence, I won't be going back in the future; unless alone and...
Read moreAs usuall after a hike with our 2 dogs, we love to stop at Sa Forn and eat. Also without our dogs and often bring friends. We really like the good food and the relaxed atmosphere. Well today, just a little bit ago, we walked in the outer part of the restaurant and sat down with our 2 dogs. We had ordered each a drink. Got that served. Then we ordered food to eat in the restaurant. All good yet. About 10 minutes after our order a waiter came by and told us that there is no dogs allowed. Well since we have been there about 20 times just with the dogs over the past years I maybe thought that the waiter was talking about the inside area is off limits for dogs, which we are well aware of. But that was not the case. Anyways I am really mad right now. How is it possible to be waited on and ordered food and then they come up with whatever stupid rule all this sudden. The dogs well behaved and layed down. You know, if I come in and they changed their rules to no dogs and let me know by entering. I guess that would be alright. I stll may not like iit, but it is a different story to what we just experienced. Our ordered food was probably about to come out, the restaurant was not crazy busy and people where not molasted by the dogs. Well I just gotta say, I am mad right now, was totally excited to eat there this afternoon and unfortunately this ruined it the way...
Read moreThe place offers a huge variety of pastries, bread, sandwiches, pizzas, meat and even ice-cream🍦. You can go for breakfast, lunch or dinner and you will find something. The food and drinks are generally very good. It became our favorite place to go during our short vacation in Sa Ràpita. However the customer experience is highly dependent on the staff member attending your table. I would have given 5 stars, but last Sunday evening (22.05.2022) I had a very unpleasant experience with one of the waiters. It was very busy because of a football game. I unintentionally stood in the way of one of the waiters near the bar. Shortly after he went behind the bar and threw one small plate used for providing the bill at me in a way to indicate me I should not be standing there. I was shocked. He apologized and said that "it was the emotion". Absolutely outrageous. I realize it is a particular situation but I still think it is an unacceptable behavior. This staff member should learn to control his emotions and learn some...
