El Horno — Restaurant in Caravaca de la Cruz

This restaurant was recommended by the local teachers I came to Caravaca to work with for a few days so I went there. I can order a beer in Spanish but not much else so I did, sat down outside and asked for a menu that never came. I went inside but their menu was in Spanish and no English menu available. They had a QR code so I hoped I could have my phone translate it but the QRcode just gave a pdf that didn't work. The staff didn't speak English and no one was interested in helping me. So I needed to find another place to dine but I had to wait 10 minutes just to pay for my beer. Definitely not recommended for foreigners unless you've got a Spanish...

I ate here many times during my stay and have mixed feelings. The cafe is really good and the 4 stars are for that. Their burgers are huge, cheap and delicious. I paid €11 for a burger with fries and coffee. The toasts with salmon and avocado are good too! The restaurant on the other hand was a big disappointment. I paid €10 for something that was supposed to be ceviche but was in fact two pieces of lettuce with some tiny finish thrown in there in a big bowl of ice. The patatas bravas are good but...

Aunque la selección podría mejorar, la carta ofrece opciones interesantes, como el pulpo y el tartar de atún. Las croquetas, elaboradas con esmero, merecen una mención especial.
