We decided to try Chalo as it was across the road from the Hotel we are staying at. It was very quiet when we went at lunch time, there was only one other couple who were eating there at the time.
We decided to order a few different dishes, as we hadn't eaten all day and would like to try various dishes from the menu. We had the Nachos, Patatas Bravas and Ham & Cheese empanadas for starters. The Nachos were lovely, all fresh tomatoes, onion and avocado on them - I definitely recommend you get these!
The patatas bravas were nice enough but they weren't what I was expecting, they looked like British roast potatoes, one side covered in Aoili and the other with a tomato sauce which has a little kick to it. The tomato sauce was very nice but I would have preferred say new potatoes chopped and fried with onions and tomatoes on top instead.
The empanada was nice, it was a lovely little snack. I definitely recommend the empanadas here!
My partner's ham pizza was tasty, the base was very light and soft, it was a lot thicker than we thought it would be. The cheese and tomato sauce was nice on top too - very tasty.
Lastly, I ordered a Caeser salad as I wanted to try a lighter option and I know a few of the restaurants nearby also had ceaser salads on the menu but it was not to my liking. I usually love caeser salads, I have them back home a lot but the sauce did not have a nice taste and the croutons were soft and oily and the crispy chicken was dry and tastless.
We had a waiter and a waitress who served us, the waiter spoke English which was very convenient for us. He was good enough with our service but it...
Read moreWe told ourselves that we’re not going to eat at the same place twice this holiday to explore the area more, but here we’re finding ourselves eating twice at this restaurant, two days running with the thought in mind of coming back for a third. This was a delightful restaurant with a menu the size of 3. The speed that the food was prepared was fast, even with a full restaurant. The service was kind and efficient and they made the effort to communicate in English with us. I tried their roscas the second time I went, which I believe to be their own creation and their house special and wow! It was their own take on a pizza/ calzone/ pastry. It’s hard to describe unless you try...
