Cataria is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The atmosphere is relaxed and elegant. The service is exquisite and the courses are perfectly timed. Each course is balanced, exciting, surprising and flavorful. You can tell that a lot of love is poured into each and every dish. From the inside and outside terrace, you get an ocean view, overlooking the luxurious pool area of the hotel. While enjoying dinner, you can catch a perfect view of the sunset. The dishes are accompanied with freshly baked sourdough bread, still warm. Each dish is paired with an array of local wines. Fernando is the head chef, restaurant manager, supply manager and heart and soul of the restaurant. He himself sources the ingredients locally. The fruit and vegetables are sourced from a local farmer. All fish and seafood is sourced from local fishermen known by name, mainly from the fish market in Conil. It could be do much better. You book with your credit card and if you don’t turn up they charge you €50 per person. We did turn up and getting the feeling they were not listening on leaving I blocked my card. Hey presto, they tried to take several amounts (5) €90 - €93 from my bank account.

The service is sporadic, not listening to requests, bringing what they think you’ve ordered not actually what you have. I speak good Spanish but it’s not listened to. The food is good but exceptionally expensive. Not a venue we will be returning to.
