Restaurante EL MARINERO — Restaurant in Conil de la Frontera

We cycled to Roche and had lunch here. We ordered a goat's cheese salad which was huge and had a decent portion of fried cheese plus good salad leaves, tomato, nuts, strawberries, blueberries etc and a balsamic dressing. About 14 euro. Delicious. It was easily big enough for 2 people to share. Service was very good, coffee was lovely. It's in a nice location with birds chattering in the trees. I can't really comment on the atmosphere because we ate outside. The dining room looked very nice but wasn't busy when we were there, but I've given it 4* anyway for atmosphere as I'm sure it's probably buzzing at busy times. Toilets etc are very clean. We'd definitely stop there again for a light...

We've been here twice so far. An authentic Spanish restaurant where virtually no English is spoken, although there is a basic translation on the menu.

Delicious food and generous portions all served by friendly, professional staff at reasonable prices. When we went it was about €12.50 for mixed paella and it was great, whilst what was described as "the best burger I've ever eaten" was less than €9.

Sit out the front and watch the world go by or in the garden at the back. ...

A very quiet day in the restaurant. Weather was quite cool, overcast, with a bit of rain. A heater was turned on nearby. We shared the fish soup as a starter and were brought 2 spoons quite happily. We both chose the Bacalao Gratinado, which was superb, served on a bed of sliced potatoes. We took the stir fried veg starter as our veggie side, which was nice. Would definitely visit here again. Staff (Jimmy) were very nice...
