Ameztia Bar — Restaurant in Doneztebe/Santesteban

We stayed here during our Mountain Bike holiday with BasqueMTB. Rooms were spotless, well maintained & secure. All rooms were ensuite with lovely showers. Wifi in rooms & bar so never had to turn data on. They have a very good secure bike room next door where you can store, clean & even have bike stands to help with maintenance. The Ameztia bar is across the road where we had breakfast & evening meals. This is a family business run by Jorge & Maribi, a lovely & very hard working couple. Nothing was to much trouble with them taking great pride in providing a great service. From coffee at 7am, the bar opens early with many locals having coffee & breakfast, to checking on bus times to San Sebastián for our rest day trip.||The food was very good, but the last two nights were exceptional:) Whole piglets Thursday, then steak cooked on the open grill Friday. Stayed for a week as part of the (excellent) Basque MTB organised trip. I can’t praise the owners (and bar staff) more, they couldn’t do enough for you. |Food was excellent, and the set up perfect. Safe underground parking, good bike store with access to tools and jet wash, and use of laundry. You can request a packed lunch and ask for other special requests. We had a bunch of friends over for the end of the trip and they were made to feel really welcome too. |Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. One of our party had the ground floor accessible room which gave us a perfect lounge to get together after the bar had closed. |The hotel sits between river and road and also has three bars within spitting distance so it can get a bit noisy if windows are open.|Finally I can guarantee you’ll be happy with the tab at the end of your stay; beer, wine, coffee and pintxos are (as is the region)...
