Llum Restaurante — Restaurant in els Poblets

Very unfortunate. I was here 3 and 4 years ago, and it was top-notch back then. The terrace and the atmosphere right by the beach without traffic are excellent. But: I had made a reservation by phone for 8:30 PM, and they confirmed a spot on the terrace. However, with the note that we would need to be done after 2 hours. No problem.

When we arrived, we were given a spot under the roof, even though three-quarters of the outdoor seats were free. The staff tried hard but were young and inexperienced. The food then completed the disappointment.

We ordered only from the recommendations. My partner ordered the tomato salad, which, according to the English translation, was supposed to come with beef steak. We were told it was probably a poor translation. Well, the salad was just a large tomato cut into big chunks. See photo. Even parts of the stem were still visible. That, with a bit of arugula or something similar, for exactly €17.50 — see photo. My ceviche wasn't really tasty. It was a carpaccio of shrimp with a sweet-and-sour coconut cream.

Then the main course: The rice dish 64 Euro for 2 with 100 grams of beef fillet was supposed to be for two people. Unfortunately, the meat was also completely overcooked. We shared all of this feedback openly with the server and asked for the dessert menu since we were still hungry. From that moment on, we were ignored for at least 45 minutes, until we finished our bottle of wine and left without...

I guess there should always be some positives in a review so here goes ... the service was superb, fast and efficient. The location was good too (shame about the car park between the restaurant and the beach though, but that's why the prices are over the top).

Now, the rest - Long Island Iced Tea cocktail. The worst I've ever had. Expensive (13€), watery, too much ice and hardly any cola (it's supposed to resemble tea!). Sent back and when it was returned, it had just been topped up with a little more alcohol. The Piña Colada was good though.

The food. Fish and Chips (also expensive at 22,90€). The Cod was wet as if it had been frozen and was therefore quite tasteless. The batter was crispy but also quite tasteless. The chips were very nice though. The other dish. Sweet potato waffle with cod flakes and smoked roasted vegetables. Piling cold veg on a warm waffle and cod means a cold dish! Not great.

Didn't bother with dessert, just...

Sadly a big let down at this restaurant which we were looking forward to.

The chicken breast portion was rather on the small side. And the chicken breast rather dry.

The entrecôte steak was not edible. I really did try to eat it. Each bit that I chewed I had no choice but to spit out as it would not break down despite chewing each piece as much as I could.

My jaws ached!!!

I gave up when I couldn’t even cut through the meat with my knife!!

The manager was full of blame - we were happy to pay in full which we did and would have been polite and good customer service if he had been a little more accommodating of the reality of the situation.

He did see what was on my plate.

The chips that accompanied the steak were definitely very nice. A super expensive portion of chips!!!
