Restaurante Galicia — Restaurant in Elx / Elche

Recommended to try the Restaurant Galicia & not dissapointed. Had a lovely tuna and egg salad for starter and the mixed fish grille for a 2-to-share main. Beautifully prepared and tasting superb. Coupled with a great sea view, great service from our waiter. An all round enjoyable lunch and setting. May 2021. Returned to this restaurant. No one sitting at any of the tables, so we sat at one of the many sea front tables, only to be told it was reserved and a sign was duly bought out. We moved to another sea front table, only to be told the same and then another "Reserved" sign appeared. We watched as several other patrons were told the same. We ordered our food, as we sat at one of the tables towards the back. A young couple came in and sat at a reserved table and had a stand up arguement with the staff as all the front line tables had reserved, with no one seated. The young couple won their argument and remained seated at the sea front table. We left after about 90 minutes. No one, had arrived for the reserved tables! Very poor customer service regarding where to sit, when tables are empty!! Hence 2 star drop as I can only appraise your efforts on...

Went for a family meal and nice on the seafont terrace with a beautiful breeze, despite it being over 30°

The food was a mixture with the shared rice dish of arroz a la banda between 2 being a disappointment with a not very nice flavour.

Also the calamares were slightly undercooked and the prawns in garlic were extremely expensive for what you got on the plate, averaging 2€ each one!

The steak and fish dishes however, redeemed their score, because they were both cooked to perfection with amazing flavours. The steak was one of the best I've tasted.

The service was really very slow and we had to remind the waiter of our orders, because he'd forgotten, or misunderstood our drinks requests, although I'm quite sure it wasn't the latter! They need more staff for the weekend lunchtime hours.

The place was full of Spanish families enjoying their meals, so it must be a good sign and I think we were unlucky with our rice order. The fideuá on the table next to ours looked amazing!

I would go again, but would restrict my choice to the fish or...

Vamos a comer tres o cuatro veces durante la temporada en la que el restaurante está abierto. Nos gusta la comida y el sitio es bonito. Aunque después de lo que mi familia y yo hemos vivido allí, nos planteamos si volver merece la pena dado que la calidad/precio hoy (17/04/2022) no ha sido ni la mínima esperada.

Primero:

nos sirve un vino que tenía poso y mal sabor. En vez de disculparse y ofrecernos una botella nueva, dice en malas maneras "¿Pero está bueno?" "A mí me da igual traer otra" (aventando las manos hacia nosotros) y cuando le decimos que por favor nos traiga otra botella dio un golpe con la otra botella antes de irse.

La diferencia entre vinos fue bastante notable. El anterior vino estaba picado y la intención del camarero fue no cambiarlo.

Segundo:

Queremos pedir dos paellas diferentes. Una paella de 3 a banda y para 2 de arroz negro (éramos 5 personas en la mesa). Otra vez, con muy mala educación dice que no, que en la cocina no le van a permitir pedir dos paellas distintas para una mesa (no le vimos preguntar a cocina). Fue vergonzoso como se dirigió a nosotros. Dijo que la comida saldría muy tarde. Fue informado que no nos importaba el tiempo de espera, pero aún así nos negó otra vez pedir lo que queríamos para comer.

Nunca un camarero se ha negado a un servicio antes y además dirigiéndose al cliente de esa manera. Por supuesto, nos hizo sentir bastante incómodos.

Sentimos que si queríamos nuestra comida teníamos que hacer lo que el camarero quería y no discutir para evitar seguir ser tratados de mala manera o empeorar la situación. Ya que mí sólo me dejó decir una palabra antes de cortarme, alzando la voz y haciendo aspavientos con los brazos en medio de la terraza.

Tercero:

Mi hermana pidió colines para comer la ensaladilla y no sólo no los trajo, además se permitió la libertad de decirnos que para qué lo iba a traer si nos estaba sirviendo pan. Sentimos otra vez que no teníamos otra opción que comer lo que el camarero quería servir y no lo que queríamos pedir.

Cuarto:

Pedimos pan. Cuando vemos que no lo estaba trayendo a la mesa, se lo recordamos y nos dice "es que se está calentando" (nadie lo pidió tostado) cuando le decimos que no se preocupe, que lo queremos sin tostar, sigue con la misma respuesta. Mi padre tuvo que decirle que por favor trajera el pan. Sentimos que ya estaba bien de excusas y de negarnos nuestra comanda.

Por todo lo que pasó, no pudimos disfrutar de la comida y de reunirnos en un lugar que nos suele gustar.

Podemos entender que un día como hoy, pueda ser difícil y estresante para el personal debido al posible volumen de gente, pero eso no justifica el trato que hemos recibido. Se nos ha tratado con malas palabras, mal tono, malos gestos y siendo ignorados como clientes. Muy mala experiencia.

En ningún momento hubo una disculpa (ni siquiera por un vino picado) o un gracias por parte del servicio.

Lamentablemente no puedo dar más de una estrella ya que no puedo recomendar el restaurante por el trato que...
