Es Cranc Pelut — Restaurant in es Mercadal

Unfortunately I was expecting a better experience. I ordered pulpo a la gallega and it was mostly hard and not that tasty. I had the best one once in sevilla and once in San Juan de puerto rico. The pulpo here at Es Cranc Pelut was below bar. Great the desserts, especially the poster de queso.. the brownies of the restaurant for me, who I lived in the US for a decade, is a no. I also asked some info regarding the nightlife in Fornelles and I was told by the staff that everything is closed around 10pm. Not true... everything is more than opened and vibrant until past midnight. Maybe it would be a great idea to skip this restaurant and go directly to the central area...

Most undeserved hype. Their paella of mariscos was supposed to be the best in the Island. What we got was a dark brown mess (where is the saffron?), so over-salted that it seemed as if the cook had broken the salter right on top of it and besmirched it with half a pound of salt. Inedible, we sent it back. We ate something else, which was no better than average. When they presented the bill, the catastrophic paella was still in there. I pointed that out, and they took it off, pretending it was an oversight. On top of it all, a very expensive restaurant. Avoid it...

In visita a Fornells, per il compleanno di mio figlio (17 anni oggi) insieme a suo fratello di 20 volevamo festeggiare a pranzo assaggiando il piatto tipico della zona la Caldereta de langosta in uno dei ristoranti consigliati dalla guida lonely planet. Appena arrivati ci hanno fatto sedere al tavolino non apparecchiato sul marciapiede nonostante i molti tavoli liberi già apparecchiati nella terrazza e all’interno. Nemmeno il tempo di sederci e ci chiedono cosa vogliamo da bere ( senza portarci la carta), ricordo che siamo venuti per mangiare e dopo un po’ ci portano il menù e una bottiglia d’acqua che nel frattempo avevamo ordinato. Altra gente che arriva dopo di noi viene fatta accomodare in terrazza e servita , noi ancora in attesa che apparecchino il tavolino in legno e che ci prendano la comanda. Dopo mezz’ora in cui nulla è successo e in cui ci siamo sentiti umiliati e trattati in modo disparitario rispetto agli altri clienti ( come se avessimo la peste), ci siamo alzati per pagare il conto in cassa (3.50 € per la bottiglia d’acqua consumata). Delusi per non aver mangiato il piatto tipico e di non aver nemmeno festeggiato il compleanno ce ne siamo andati increduli di come al giorno d’oggi possa esistere un ristorante classista che si è basato sull’apparenza di una madre con 2 figli pensando forse che non potevamo permetterci 3 aragoste???
